poor tub installation - WWYD?

Our new slipper tub has just been installed, but the GC forgot to allow for the external waste and overflow set-up. So, our new tub is 9 1/2" off-center, not aligned with the tub filler mounted in the wall and the new window. Since the tub narrows towards the foot end, the tub filler is 1/2" closer to the tub rim than it would be if centered (hence, some splashing on the wall, as well as dripping to the floor from the handheld).

So, my questions are:

* Am I being unreasonable to put my foot down and insist on some kind of fix?

* What fixes are there? (esp. any fixes short of tearing out the new tile floor to move the rough-in drain pipe)

I know I could camouflage by putting a lovely plant stand between the tub and the shower, but the toilet area would still look cramped.

We're new at renovation and I've learned a lot from you all at Gardenweb. So please tell me, WWYD? (thanks for any ideas)
