How would you "fix" these?
Comments (8)Thanks, didn't think of the hook wanting to be toxic, apparently neither did my dh.. lesson learned. The one on the right has no roots!! just the leaves, silly thing. It isn't rotting, just dark color. But it is growing. no nodes either,, very strange... just straight out of the stem. As far as new growth on the mother vine, yes, a lot of growth. Can't believe it either with the abuse it has taken. So either way for the left one then? either upright or horizonal, thanks, will let him know. he was wondering what to do with it, how to do it, thought I would ask.. :) teengardener -- i am sorry to confuse you, but it seems that is what I do best these days, confuse people, lol...See Morefireplaces - What's wrong with this and how would you fix it?
Comments (28)The mantel is wrong for the stone…too Victorian looking, as if you removed the top of a highboy chest; the wood above stone looks like floor boards…each separately is great, but not paired. Whoops I just saw the window trim, which is Victorian in style. So the mantel and the windows go well; but now the stone and the above mantel treatment don’t fit into the style. Here is a photo that might solve the problem: when you stain the wood, continue with all your woodwork and mantel color instead of trying to match the stone....See MoreHow would you fix a bad addition?
Comments (8)We bought a home that was originally built in 1958 had a flat roof addition added in 1959. This is in the Chicago area lots of snow, a bad idea. We removed the flat roof and roof of the original house. We used an architect to get the proportions correct. Since we bought the house with this plan in mind we understood the work and cost that would be involved. Unfortunately these projects can take more time and money to do right then build from scratch. Good luck...See MoreHow would you fix this window placement issue?
Comments (9)There are relatively inexpensive ways to mask what you believe is an unsightly space between the window and the ceiling. Purchase woven blinds and hang them at the height that you want the “window” to be, relative to the ceiling. The upper part of the blind will cover the wall space above the window. Just be sure, if you want the blinds to fully cover the window in the down position that they are long enough to reach the sill. To mask the blind’s sides, draperies, also hung at the level of the blinds, to the floor. The windows in this room, at least, will appear to be taller, even if they are not. If this is an issue through the entire home, then I suggest that you get used to this unique feature of your home....See Morebrosher
