Some web pages are not very big on Vista

Some web pages cover my entire 17" monitor but a lot of them don't. It's like watching television on letter box and I don't like it. This web site is full page but a few examples are Veteran's Administration; KOA campground: yahoo answers web page and a lot of my games are only half. I can go to lower right corner and change to 150% view and it'll be ok but I have to do that for each page I go to. Also full screen top right corner only makes it smaller. There's got to be an easier way. Is there a way to make all the web sites the same size so that they cover my whole screen? I have no problems with my desktop which is XP. Everything fits the monitor.

Also how do I change the background color on web pages? Everything is white. My background color for this letter is a pale yellow which is good but all web page backgrounds are white.

I'm using Vista Premium Laptop with IE 8.

If it were IE7, for colors you would go to the General tab in Internet Options and choose the Colors button and it has a hotling to help there that explains it well.

If you are clicking top right corner full screen control and that is making that window smaller, then it sounds like the page is already at full screen and the click is just reversing it. Maybe while one window is smaller,,, stretch the edges of the window to the size you like.

I would try: Clear the IE cache>Manually type in and enter the site desired>Set the current page as the homepage. I normally use FF with my Vista. However, when I do tinker with IE9 it will report as to blocked sites, expired certificates, and such. It's no big deal as far as I am concerned. What's one click? DA

owbist and genes: I'll give both of your suggestions a try and provide some feedback later. damccoy: Most of my scheduled tasks are set to run around 3am, but occasionally I'm logged on when something is being updated and things do run a bit sluggish because of that. The stuff I'm describing is quite a bit different in that it's more than just slower; I actually have to close out and start over. IE is the only browser I use. And I think the answer to your third question is no, if only because I don't understand what that is and therefore probably don't have it. Of course, I consider myself one of the "technically-challenged". Thanks to all for your help!

Generally, a consultant just builds in the cost of their operating expenses (including office rent, travel to meetings with clients, utilities, software, equipment, taxes, etc.) into their base rate. Charge him whatever per hour for the work, but include the cost of your equipment into it; a separate charge is going to look like you are being cheap. Since you are not buying new equipment or software, you can't expect to pay it off through this small contract. On the other hand, depending on how much a percentage of time the equipment may be devoted to income-producing work, you may be able to amortize some of the costs for tax purposes.
