Bathroom Countertops

Does anyone have recent experience with solid surface or cultured marble vanity tops? We need a 72" double bowl vanity top, and the two solid surface (patterned) I have priced so far are $1000 for Swanstone and $1500 for Hi-Macs. We will be getting a natural-stained Hickory vanity, and the solid surface will look great on it. But, with the cost, I am wondering if I should go with a matte cultured marble--I am afraid it will look cheap, though. It's like, why get a nice Hickory vanity and put cultured marble on it?

Does anyone know of any lower-priced solid surface countertops? I have seen the Livingstone website, but don't know much about it. What about Avonite and Staron?

The bathroom is long and narrow with no windows. The tub/shower and toilet will be white; the flooring will be tile. It is the hallway bathroom for our little boys.

Thanks in advance.
