spywareblaster latesst update

My pointer is freezing again. My computer did an avg check about an hour ago. I did a spywareblaster check. I noticed an update from Jan 2009.

When I went to the Javacool site to add it, I noticed there was not a 'https', only 'http' on the address. Does it matter if there is no 's' for 'secure', if you are not using money/credit card? Shouldn't I always want to be on an 'https' site?

I will run the other anti- spywares that I have, although I ran them all yesterday.

That I just noticed that near the bottom of spywareblaster is a place that lists your last scan date. I do it every couple weeks, and it says the last one was 12/08/2008! I did one last nite! Are my scans not really scanning?

No no, the 's' is only needed where security is needed when dealing with any form of business. The straight http is just fine.

Thanks everyone. Mikie - I will try that link soon. I sort of agree that if everything's fine, don't go borrowing trouble. But my laptop isn't quite fine - and I don't know what's wrong with it. The past month it's been weird. When I unplug it (to move it to another room), it just shuts down. The battery was staying at 87% all day yesterday - while plugged in. Then it sometimes takes many, many minutes to boot up after it's suddenly shut down because it was unplugged. Sometimes I have to reboot a few times til it functions properly. I updated and ran Avast, superantispyware,malwarebyte and spywareblaster. All were fine - so I don't think I'm infected. I sometimes keep a lot of tabs open at once(I'm embarassed to say how many - but since it's relevant - perhaps 2-3 dozen). I'm comparison shopping and keeping open the tabs for whatever I'm currently researching or shopping for. I know this taxes the resources. When I shut the computer down, I run ccleaner to get all that stuff cleared up. Lately it's done something else weird. Sometimes when I click to open something up in a new tab (Firefox - which was like version 5 - but they recently sprung 9 on my which I never authorized - Windows XP). So I click open a new tab. And the tabs just keep scrolling across the top. As I try to click on a particular tab, the tabs keep scrolling to the left. This happens even if only a dozen tabs are open. And this doesn't happen every time but has become frequent. I have to let it scroll for 5-20 seconds before the tabs stay still - and I can click on one. I have no idea what's going on. At first I thought I had too many tabs open - and overtaxed my system. But since it's happened with closer to 10-12 tabs (and no other programs open), I'm not sure that's the problem. Is it Firefox? My laptop? driver? Thanks. Lynn. PS damccoy - they wouldn't let me print out the page. It kept disappearing - bc. of course they want me to spend money for their program to update - they don't want to hand me the list to do it on my own.

Ta-da!!! I fixed it. For the 31st time (!) I opened ZA and looked through the various screens. I found "Appplication Control" and for Spywareblaster there were red "X's" under "inbound" and "outbound". In this same table SAS (which is updating) had green checks. There was no indication that I could/should click on the "X's" but I thought to do so; a menu appeared which allowed me to change the red "X's" to green checks. After this, when I tried to update Spywareblaster, it worked. Thank you all for considering my problem. Mike_kaiser, you're probably correct, and I'm heavy on the security programs. This computer is about 7 years old and over the years, I've slowly added these programs (and very recently, the router) as they've been recommended here. When one has been recommended I don't recall a corresponding recommendation to get rid of "x". So the list has grown. My computer seems to be running fine and isn't particularly slow so I haven't inquired about what I could remove.

Witz right you are, indeed Bill P did decline and we all think very highly of him in the security community for doing so. Way to go Bill!! He is such a great guy anyway and that just proves it even more and WinPatrol is sure worth it. I know all of them want to create programs to help us all stay safe and make it easier for the support community to keep the pc's clean, the more clean ones we have the less we all suffer. It is a pay it forward thing for many of them, they just want to help. some unfortunately do end up giving in to the lure of the almighty dollar, I do not think that would be happening nearly as much if we all did contribute more to them in donations. It cost a lot of money to keep those sites up and running and time and effort to create the programs. I applaud them all and do get on the soap box occasionally to try to make people understand how valuable these people are and how supporting their free products is a worthwhile effort.

That is not accurated. Spywareblaster is and has been for a long time recommended highly by the tech forums that aid in removal of malware. It is a trusted program and the program writers at javacool are highly regarded. Re the scan, something is amiss. Why not look for updates and run another scan to clear any doubts.

ok first spywareblaster does not do any scans, all you do with it is open spywareblaster(double click the icon) and hit the update button on the program it will then connect and get the latest updates, ok that, then click on the button that says enable all protection so you add all the new definitions then the shield on it should turn green, that is all you do, x out.
what are you meaning by scans? and why go to javacool site to add an update? your program will update it self if you hit the update button??

I got an update installed yesterday on mine and no problems what so ever.

You have a issue here I asked you to run 2 programs in the link below from another thread ATF cleaner and then provide the listprocess thing.

Your computer is freezing for some reason...Lets find out what's running on it....

No zep- it was from my post of Sept 11, 08 that ravencajen told me to put spyblaster on my computer. I did then.

ravenc...somehow when I hit the latest up dates, it took me to the javacool site- and wanted to update a program called 'eulayzer'. That's where I got confused...
I went back again just a bit ago as owbist suggested and clicked on the update and had no problem. ????

I guess I called spywareblaster 'scanned', because when I tried to put the new update on it the green 'things' go across the bottom, just like when you scan other things.
poor terminology.

Anyway, my pointer/computer is not frozen anymore.

ok well the eulalyzer is an entirely different program than spywareblaster. It is also a program by javacool but not related to spywareblaster. Here on the link to javacools products you can see the list.

Raven..don't know HOW it showed up. anyway- the 'MRU'- on the site you provided- is that any good? In todays world might it help keep your stuff more private or just a scam/scare? Would it clear up enough to make more space on a computer?

I understand completely Owbist, I thought maybe that was what she meant also, then she mentioned javacool so I knew she had to mean spywareblaster LOL

Javacool is a great guy, his programs are all legit and aboveboard and safe, I personally have not used any of his other than spywareblaster and I used to use spywareguard.
But I have seen people recommend the others. The EULAlyzer one you have is a good program to help you see and understand those long EULAs that people usually never read but should.
As to MRU blaster I think it is much like ccleaner and ATF cleaner, cleans out your caches, history, etc.
