I was going to buy the Jenn-Air JFC2089 custom panel french door frig for our new house. However after doing some research I found that this refrigerator comes with the handles as shown on the Jenn-Air website. These handles screw into the refrigerator cabinet and the custom panels need to be cut to allow the handles to be installed through the panel and into the door. Custom handles can not be used with this model. So I opted for the KitchenAid KFC022EVBL instead. This model does not come with any handles and allows for any custom handles to be attached to the cabinet panel. I've had this frig installed for about 4 months and it's been great.

Jenn-Air and Maytag products are all shifting to the existing Whirlpool/Roper/Kitchenaid platforms. It is all one company and one product line with different names and some feature changes.

While I'd still love to hear feedback, I made the decision and just ordered the GE. There's a tax-free weekend coming up so I needed to decide, and after looking at both models several times I decided that the better-quality innards of the GE made more sense than the admittedly drop-dead gorgeous looks of the Jenn-Air. Plus the salesman, who sold both and had no axe to grind, had a clear preference for the GE. I hope I get a good one!

I have a Kenmore SS fridge, made by Whirlpool. It's three years old and has never even flinched at us. We chose it because it was ginormous and has a very bright interior. While looking at some models, you could tell that you'd need a flash light if you put any food in there. I just bought my home and it came with the original 1982 Jenn-Air drop-in range / oven. I don't care for the down-draft ventilation at all. Whoever thought that up was an oaf. Functionally, after 25 years, it's "fair". There's one thing that should be mentioned: "Brand" is no guarantee of quality or reliability anymore. (And you asked about reliability). Most manufacturers contract out the manufacture of their parts, so Company A in China makes the leaded water lines for your fridge and Company B makes the valves for the gas stove. Someone else puts them all together and calls them the brand of the day. The Brands merely "spec" the parts and the manufacturers produce to specs. And if the CEO wants a bigger bonus, they can allow lower-quality plastics, etc, in the middle of a production run. What a Brand does get you is specific kinds of service and support. Bosch may jump all over the chance to wow you on the rebound of a problem, yet the Jenn-Air group may not.
