Craft folks,I need some help

Years ago my friend at work made a wreath out of wrapped hard candies.Not sure how it was done, but the finished product had hundreds of hard candies glued or tied to a wreath-ring. Anyone have insytructions on how to make one? I have an idea to decorate with candy this year. I have a silver tabletop tree I hang with garlands of candies, lollipops, gumdrops, candycanes,etc. "Visions of sugarplums" is my idea.

How to Make a Candy Wreath

First, buy your candy. You need to use wrapped candy like Tootsie Rolls, Jolly Ranchers, peppermints, bubble gum, butterscotch candies, etc. How much candy you need depends on the size of wreath you make. Usually for a 12 to 15 inch wreath, I buy enough candy to fill a large mixing bowl to the top.

I make mine with lots of mixed candy but you can make it with all peppermints, all green and red Jolly Ranchers, or whatever you like. Whatever you decide, first place it all into a large mixing bowl.

Cut string into about 3 inch pieces. The lengths don't have to be exact. Just make them long enough so that they are easy to handle while you tie them around the ends of the candy and then to the ring for the wreath. You need one string for each piece of candy. I don't sit and count how many I need. I just cut a pile and then make more when I need them.

Take a heavy wire clothes hanger and form it into the size wreath you would like. Cut off the hook part at the top then slightly bend the 2 ends to form small hooks that you can hook together to make a circle. I haven't checked lately but you might be able to buy a metal circle in the wreath section at your craft store.

After you have made your ring, tie each string to one end of a piece of candy. This is why candy like Toostie Rolls work so well. The little flags of paper on each end make it easy to tie the string to them. Then tie the other end to the wreath ring. Keep pushing the candy together as you go so you have a nice full ring of candy.

When you can't squeeze one more piece of candy onto the wreath, make or buy a large red bow to place at the top, which will cover the section where you hooked it together.

Tie one end of a ribbon or string to a child's pair of scissors and then tie the other end to the bottom of the wreath. This pair of scissors is for people to use to cut their own candy.

When I was doing daycare, we made some really cool ornaments. I bought clear glass ball ornaments. The kids dripped a little bit of 2 different colors of glass paint into it. I taped the top shut and they gently rolled them around on the floor until the inside of the ball was completely covered. To dry them I removed the tape and layed them upside down in egg cartons to allow the excess paint to drip out. After dry, I replaced the hanger piece and we tied ribbons to the tops. They really turned out neat, looked like a marble finish.

I'd start by figuring out exactly what it is that you need to have storage for, and how much of it you need to store. You need some inactive storage space for the memorabilia. That could be drawers, shelves with boxes, or a closet. Sort through the memorabilia and discard anything that you no longer want to keep. Figure out how much you have left, and how much more you think you will accumulate. You need to store scrapbooking supplies. How much of which type do you tend to keep on hand? Do they need drawer space, or shelf space? Same for the kids' art supplies--how much will you be storing/using? This requires getting all the scrapbook supplies in one place, all the kids' stuff in one place, etc. You really can't plan the storage until you know what it is that you need space for. Then I'd go to a couple of stores that sell closet supplies and see what they have to offer--there are a lot of options out there. One thing to consider is that the most easily accessible storage space should go to the things you use the most. The least accessible space should go to the things you use the least, like the memorabilia.

I wish I had some pictures for you and would take some, but at the moment my craft closet is over flowing since our son moved back home for a bit and used my craft/sewing room for his living room and I've not gotten it back together since he moved back with his wife. ((YAY)) Anyway I have a four by eight sheet of heavy duty pegboard on one wall with commercial grade clear plastic baskets made for pegboard that I purchased all this when a fabric store that I worked at was closing. Not sure where you'd be able to find them, but if you can they are awesome for storing larger items on a wall. If you have mostly smaller items using the over the door shoe storage pockets in clear work great too. I had them in all our closets at our last home for storing everything from hats and mittens to health and beauty items. If you do use a pegboard make sure to buy the heavier duty because they'll last forever. Also check HoDe and Lowe's for unique storage gadgets made for them. They have little buckets, jars with lids along with a variety of hooks. We usually get ours at HoDe, but I'm sure Lowe's would have a good variety of pegboard storage gadgets too. I did a bit of a search and see there's even metal pegboard. Now that should last forever.

The exact same thing is happening to me only on my Android phone and it has to be one of the many ads that is causing it. If I close out of that and re-enter the address for the page it usually will display normally. It is extremely frustrating. On my computers that have firefox with adblock plus and easylist it is not happening which is what is leading me to believe it is ad related. I would use the contact us button at the bottom and let them know you have this problem so they can attempt to determine what is causing it. You are not alone and it is not just your computer. now I have no idea what Glyphs is but my experience has been here at GW. and most noticeably at KT
