Tilt out sponge drawer?
Comments (26)Hi everyone this is a really old post but with a ton of tilt out lovers so wanted to ask if anyone can share a SIDE picture of theirs? I'm curious to see if they all tilt out or if they sit completely flush with the other cabinets. I want to include on in my new kitchen but everyone keeps advising me against it for it doesn't sit flush, they aren't used much anymore, etc. I use ours a LOT (we don't put wet items in there so no issues) and I cannot imagine being without it. Thanks...See MoreSmall Galley Reveal
Comments (52)a circa-1965 Sears Kenmore 30" gas range with the usual drop-down door, copper brown, in a kitchen with no dishwasher, disposer, or microwave. I'm gutting the whole kitchen and starting over. Wanted to have a 30"w oven cabinet with a side-swing Gaggenau 27" or 30"w single oven with a 30" GE Advantium 240v wall oven above it, but space considerations will probably rule that out. I'll probably use the Advantium much more than the regular oven, so I'll probably go with a Fagor 24"w oven under the countertop, with a drawer below it. I'm hoping the side-swing door combined with the ball-bearing glide-out shelves will combine to make it easy to insert and remove oven trays without leaning down very much. I still want the Advantium, but that needs a wall cabinet if I go with the built-in model. There's also an over-the-range version, but since it has to fit between 12" deep wall cabinets, you lose several inches of interior depth; a large pizza won't fit. Also, the exhaust-fan function on over-the-cooktop ovens is always weak, a problem since I would have liked an indoor grill which needs a high-CFM exhaust fan. I'll either use a 24"w Gaggenau electric cooktop or a 12" cooktop (only two burners) next to a 12" grill. It's a small house so two burners should do, especially since I'll have an instant hot water dispenser so you don't need a water kettle. I'll keep a portable 3rd burner in one of the drawers for emergencies. I have back trouble so I pay close attention to these things....See MoreKitchen Reveal Scherr's RTA
Comments (80)We had Scherr's paint them. I got Scherr's to give me couple of quotes, unpainted, primed only and fully painted. It just wasn't that much more to have them painted in the big scheme of things. I am glad we did. I've painted primed cabinets before. I got a much better finish. One thing that you need to know is they use a catalyzed varnish finish. While it's color matched, it has a slightly different cast due to the way the light hits it. It is much sturdier than basic paint. So, be sure to get any directly adjacent trim painted by them, too. I had a piece of trim a the top that was hand painted. It was noticeable if you looked at it really closely. The rest of my trim was separated by drywall and you didn't notice the difference with the drywall separation. The only way you would get an exact match is to use the same paint product on both. Small, but noticeable if you really look. It was a really good experience. We enjoyed putting them together....See MoreJulien Custom Stainless Sink
Comments (2)I know your post is from a couple years ago, but I'm wondering if you got the Julien sink with the sponge drawer on the side, and if so - what do you think of it? I'm looking at that same feature on the julien sink but can't seem to find too many opinions on it....See Moreturtleshope
