Delete the e mail!

You obviously do not understand my question. I am using Outlook. Outlook informs you of the presence of a message by placing it in the In-box. In order to do anything with that message, including delete, you must 'click' on it. Once you click on it either left or right, you 'open' it and expose yourself to whatever risks are inherent therein. Maybe your system does not work that way, but mine does.

you should be able to drag it to the junk mail folder or the recycle bin/trash.
I do not use outlook but most emails have a little box in front of each one which can be ticked or x'd if you do have that simply tick that box and select delete

Thank you Chemocurl, just what I wanted!! Thanks also Ravencajun, but it just shows that we all use and process e-mail in different ways. Using Outlook the way I do, that little box will also open the message. The idea, which is explained in Chemocurl's solution, is to use Outlook so it does not open messages in the preview pane, which I think most of us do.

oh yes you should immediately change that in any email program you never ever want to use the preview pane, if you have it set to open that way change it and leave it so that it does not open that preview. It is very dangerous to have the preview pane option on.
