My Thanksgiving centerpiece

Hi everyone.
I have never posted a picture before so I thought I would give it a try. We were expecting 22 for Tday, but four have cancelled already due to illness. We didn't know how we were going to seat everyone, but we came up with the idea of putting 2 6 ft. folding tables side by side in the living room. We took out the coffee table and some plants to make room. We will have a table for eight in the dining room, that is adjacent.
The rigged up table in the LR is too wide for a regular tablecloth, and I didn't have two the same color so I came up with the idea of using two short ones,of different colors, and a longer one over the top of both, that covered just the top. The centerpiece sort of incorporates all the colors, and the table is very wide so it fills up the center. We will be serving buffet style with just the salad and rolls, butter, gravy and cranberry sauce on each table.I will try to post a pic when I get the tables all set.

Here is a picture of the table. Can you tell that is is a different color tablecloth hanging down on the long side? There is a gold one on the other side.

TM, beautiful centerpiece! What a great idea to cover your tables like this. It looks lovely and no one will pay any attention once they get there and start visiting.

Your lucky you have this much room for everyone too. BTW, Love your doll house in the corner. Hope you will continue to post and share pictures with us.

Hi Girls, Grandson and I set the table today. I love it !! I feel like I accomplished something,without spending alot of money. I stay at home, so I'm all about saving money. Plus this is our first Thanksgiving dinner in our new to us , final destination home, we moved in a year ago and did a major remodel. I have an additional 6 settings at the kitchen island, next to the card table...yippee...I have plenty of room to entertain. Hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner with friends or family, so grateful to have my forum friends. What's that tree doing there you ask?? Well as soon as dinner is over, I'll move it to the front of the house, and this will be my final year decorating a tree that is not prelit...what a job, and what a mess, it's old and sheds needles to the MAX!!!

Ack, I think I may have made it worse. lol I added some more leaves and made some adjustments. It's hard to add stems etc because there's nothing to stick them into (like the basket I used last year..) The pedestal fits in that basket but then there's no room for anything else around it. I tried to make it look flowing from the cornucopia but I think the whole arrangement is starting to look just stuffed with stuff! The flash photos aren't helping any. I have white candles too but I thought they stuck out like a sore thumb. Here's a shot of the glass pumpkin thing beside the candle holders just to give you an idea of height. I'm 5'1" and my eyes clear the tallest candle by a good 6". Here's the new arrangement.

Well, if you're going to serve the adults (yeah, the wine glasses prove it isn't the kids' table) Thanksgiving dinner at the island, with the stove right there (and how does YOUR stove look on Thanksgiving day?), you need something to block the view. It's no worse than some centerpieces, would look better in a bread bowl or something, not the clamshell, and the white pumpkins are cute and trendy.

What a clever solution! Since your beautiful centerpiece incorporates the colors of the tablecloths, the table looks splendid.

Sorry to hear some of your guests are ailing, but hope you have a lovely day.

I second Punk's admiration for the dollhouse!

Always glad to have new posters and their pictures. Look forward to what you have to share with us for Christmas.

Thanks everyone. I am chomping at the bit to start decorating for Christmas. We were tempted to put the tree up early but we need every inch of space for the Thanksgiving group. Our guests include five children under three.
But I have been busy making ornaments and I will share those when I get them up.

solution with the tables and tablecloth.

BTW..my DD had 23 last Christmas for dinner and pretty
much did exactly the same thing as you with the tables and tablecloth in her Living Rm & DR...it worked out perfectly.

I totally agree with the others! This is a perfect solution, and I like how creative you were with the tablecloths for such a large table. Looks like you'll have plenty of room for everyone and all the "fixin's".

I also think the doll house is wonderful. I'm so glad you could post pictures, and welcome to our gang.

Oh yes, we love pictures here! & it looks like you've found a great solution...your table(s) look lovely!!! & the centerpc, too ...very festive! wow, that's alot of guests! Enjoy the party! There will always be time for us all to decorate for Christmas even tho the time will fly with less than a month til Christmas! ;-)

Welcome to the forum! Your table is a great idea to seat a large group and your centerpiece is beautiful! I don't think anyone will notice any difference in tablecloths...I think they will be happy to be there and thankful to share a wonderful meal with friends and family.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for the welcomes. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
The last of our guests left this afternoon. so I am lying on the couch watching videos on Christmas decorating because I am too tired to do anything else.
The seating arrangement worked out well, and almost everyone came back Friday evening and we ate the leftovers. My parents went home on Sat., and my DS and DDIL and two little ones today.Whew, I have to go to work tomorrow to rest. Love having them all here though.
Now on to the Christmas decorating....tomorrow.
