You could always decorate your candles with silk leaves and ribbon as in this example. Maybe a few guords and more leave garland around the candle holders. I'm not sure if you want to stain or paint the frames. If you do, maybe something neutral so you can use them for various holidays.

You've definitely got the 'bones' going. Glad you got the courage to post pix, everyone is so nice and helpful so please don't be hesitant about doing this. Had to LOL at the pitcher of margaritas tho. I should try that before trying to do a tablesetting!

Sewwhat, you've got a really good start there. Just need to add in some more accessories or "fluff" as I call it!

I'm not that great at doing tablescapes either, but here's just what I thought when looking at the picture. I'm not sure all the candles need to be elevated--maybe set the red candles down on the mirrors and weave a couple garlands of greenery between all the candles to tie them all together. Don't forget that it is good to use similar colors all over the table, so perhaps you could layer your plates with white or red ones. (ie: use the same colors in your dishes as in your candles)

I like the mirrors, and in fact am planning on using one for my Thanksgiving centerpiece. I think you just need to add some "softness" in with things sprinkled around such as twigs, leaves, garlands, etc. That's one of the things I always seem to have trouble with, but if you can "fillers" around everything it really makes a big differences.

I've only made one tablescape but I agree with the others. Bizlady has given you some pictures to go by and a little fluff and you should have it. I'm excited to do a Christmas table even though I don't have as many pretties as all the others here. I think we just have to start and let others help add finishing touches for us.

You are off to a great start, I agree with the ladies advice above. I love the brown plates, they will give the tablesetting a comfy earthy look to the table along with the natural elements that everyone suggested.

Sobered up, hehe , felt like I was decorating a banquet hall, so now I used a couple sconces I had, if I find something fallish to garnish them I will, Hobby Lobby and Michaels had nothing left, maybe JoAnnes?? Not sure what to do with those mirrors.Thank you for your help.

I found INEXPENSIVE fabric at Walmart so I switched the tablecloth to a rust color and also made a cover for a card table. I have a couple more yards, so I might make a banquet size tablecloth too, all that for $12.00 :>) BUT last night while putting the cloth on, I knocked over one of my glass sconces, and cried a few tears, darn it !

Sorry to hear about your sconces...I've done that, and it is upsetting.. If it's just the hurricane part, you might be able to find a replacement..Or, if cheap enough find two glass replacements to match ea other.

You have really got it going, wonderful colors on the tablecloth to set off the golds. I like the ribbon idea, tho think I'd run it down the other side too, then add some chunky pumpkins or something with the remaining hurricane just as it is for the center piece. But then I'm just trying to learn this stuff myself.
I'm so sorry about breaking one. I imagine most all of us have 'been there, done that' with a pair of something!

You've got some pretty things to work with, Sew. I think your biggest problem is that a good tablescape needs a balance of hard and soft to make it work. Your's with the mirrors is all hard. The mirrors are hard and so are the candle holders. You need to soften it up with greenery and/or flowers or both. Right on the mirrors around the candle holders. And maybe some small items you add there,as well. As for the mirrors, I've used three myself in my Christmas tables, but IMO, they need to be all the same color and they need to make an impact. Dark brown with some Rub-N-Buff bronze or copper rubbed on the raised edges, perhaps. It depends on what tablecloth you'll be using and what plates. I can also picture them in a rich bronze.

Grandson and I set the table today. I love it !!
I feel like I accomplished something,without spending alot of money. I stay at home, so I'm all about saving money.
Plus this is our first Thanksgiving dinner in our new to us , final destination home, we moved in a year ago and did a major remodel.
I have an additional 6 settings at the kitchen island, next to the card table...yippee...I have plenty of room to entertain.
