I am looking to replace my outdated monitor with a flat screen.I have only Staples to choose from in my area(we are in the boonies for real) and will look at on line shopping. Who knows a good dependable and safe place to shop for them on line?? TY in advance,,

Places to online shop. I have used Amazon and Ebay (buy it now) without problems. I compared one monitor advertised online by Staples - Hp W1907 - with Amazon and pricegrabber.com sources. Staples $240 versus the other two at $220. In that case, I would pay Staples the extra $20 if I could return it to the store within the warranty period. Staples seems to have most of the brands and would be a cleaner source for info if I had questions about the product.

Make and model may be as important - if not more so. Because if things go wrong you will be returning it to the maker or their representative rather than the store who might hang on to it before shipping it back. Mostly we never have to return things but there are instances when that becomes necessary.

Remember too that your old CRT monitor is a 5 X 4 screen but all the new 'widescreen' ones are 16 X 9 ratio. Just something to bear in mind as you look around.

I quite like Samsung and Acer these days, Acer seem to have improved a lot. I liked Viewsonic till my daughter had to return hers for repair. Took 10 weeks and three used replacements all older than her original monitor before she got a good monitor.

We did a kind of gallery wall around ours. I’ve since added a cactus watercolor a friend painted for me under the left hand picture. All of the artwork here has special meaning to us, and then we added my husband‘s guitars. The vintage china cabinet to the left provides storage. I don’t like the ugly, ancient printer! Working on changing that. :) I don’t know what your interests or design preferences are to suggest specific items, but just wanted to show how we did ours. Since a lot of time can be spent at the desk, I like to be surrounded by things I enjoy. Our room is mainly used by my husband, and it’s a mix of western and rock and roll (antique saddle on other side, guitar playing area, etc). Bpath, I thought I'd ask how to fix the screen here instead of calling DS...again. Reminds me of the time I didn't know how to turn the TV on at DS's house and I had to ask my 5yr old granddaughter. No wonder they treat us like children. lol

Yes, if the pressure balanced valve senses a drop in the cold water supply pressure, an internal valve moves to cut down the pressure of the hot water as well. Thus, the flow from both hot and cold are momentarily reduced together and the outgoing temp remains fairly constant. If the hot water pressure would suddenly drop, the opposite would occur. This balanced valve operation is quick, in a fraction of a second, and fairly inexpensive to implement. The thermostatic valve adjusts the outgoing water temperature via a slower changing sensing mechanism. Any change in water temperature has to soak into/out of the wax element in your drawing (it is likely inside a brass housing as well), so it takes many seconds for the heat to soak into/out of this element and effect a change in the balance of hot and cold water. This is much too slow a process to protect one from scalding from the flushing of a nearby toilet; with only a thermostatic valve present, the drop in cold water pressure & flow could cause a scalding event to occur. This thermostatic design is also a fair bit more expensive to produce which is why far fewer homeowners have them installed.

Hello, I used to have a plan with GE Kitchen Hub above a stove... but then we decided to go with one wall kitchen with cooktop on island... But I really want to have a display on the wall. It may go next to a 24 inch Gaggenau Oven... Is there a solution?

I called a gal I know who deals a lot in computer stuff. She had an Acer monitor a year old,for $50. All thats wrong with it is ONE pixel is red,in the upper left corner. I had to look hard to find it.On top of that, I bartered with her for a quilt top,(Im an avid quilter) so no cash out for it.Just traded her for a quilt top.WOOHOO!!! Thanks for the help though!
