spell checker ?

It seems I have lost my FF spell checker. Any recommendations as what to use? Vista 64 unit.

In FF spell check is built in.

Tools>Options>Advanced tab>under Browsing, Check My Spelling as I Type should be checked. If it needs to be checked>OK out.

If it is already checked I would uncheck it>Ok out> close FF> reopen FF and recheck the entry. Again, be sure to OK out in both steps.

Well, I tried that still no go ... this has me puzzled.

Testing.... just downloaded Firefox but it is not my default browser right now but maybe it should be. I will see how I like it. OK, I will now spell a few works wrong and see if it corrects them for me. Shih Tzu dog is what my Panda is. She is sitting on my lap. It underlined words with a squiggly lines but did not offer suggestions to correct them. But at least I was told the words looked mispelled. Thank you! I still need a spell check for other forums that need me to use Internet Explorer like my tax program forum.

Yep. When our son was in 4th or 5th grade, I remember having a meeting with a teacher and trying to discuss the fact he couldn't spell. It was during one of those phases when they didn't teach phonics, so he couldn't sound it out either. The teacher told me it wasn't a necessary skill, as everything he ever would need to do was on a computer and it would "fix" his errors!!!! Fast forward 15+ years and he needs to write legible, intelligible, service reports for his job. He taught himself to spell pretty darn quick, as looking everything up as he wrote was so slow. Aah, what did I know.

what i might do...

Unistall firefox. Save personal settings when it asks.
Install firefox.

If that doesnt fix it.. save or export your favorites/bookmarks.
Install revoUninstaller.com free version & use it to uninstall firefox in the most aggressive mode, deleting all it finds & dont save personal settings this time.

I have seen a few other reports of it disappearing in some of the newer updates.
I did see in some cases they had to add the American English Dictionary,or under the Content tab, languages select check to see if your language has been selected, if no language has been selected it will not do spell checking. Check mark your language ok out and restart firefox.
