Monthly newsletter app

I need to find an app for making a monthly newsletter for Condominium Association.
It is a template that I am looking for- something where I can insert small pictures, ( not photos, but a picture of a house, dog, something pertaining to condo life). I am not certain what I should be searching for.
I have looked under: letter templates, monthly newsletter without success.
What should I look for?

You can do that with Wordpad which you already have on your computer, assuming you are looking for a word processing program.

click Start
click All programs
click Accessories
click Wordpad

When you get to where you want the picture click 'Picture' in the Wordpad program then browse to where you have it stored, click to highlight then click OK. Use the left, right or centre align buttons to place it horizontally where you want it.

Always save it as a Rich text Format (.rtf) so that any processor on any computer can open your newsletter.

I am going to make a guess that you are using Microsoft Word...since you didn't say. Also, I'm assuming you're looking for a free template as opposed to a paid one.

Why not just create the template that you want? Experiment a little with the fonts & page layout, inserting graphics where you want them. When you achieve a satisfactory result, SAVE IT AS A TEMPLATE, not a document. That means FILE : SAVE AS and then save it as a .dot file, not a .doc file.

There are other options, but if you require something that cannot be done in Word you might need a desktop publishing app such as Microsoft Publisher ($) or the free one in the link below. If these do not satisfy, there are other options if you are willing to work in the OPEN DOCUMENT FORMAT, which would require you to install either Open Office or Libre Office.

Mindy, I was pretty busy up through the early days of December with fall cleanup and dormant pruning. And then I just sort of got wrapped up with the holidays and visiting relatives. I was really missing GW though. I will send your information on to her - Janet and Steven are really great about adding folks to their newsletter. I think sometime in the future they will be introducing a website as well. For your area, I think she makes twice a year pilgrimages to Massachusetts for very low cost work shops and does demonstration pruning on site at a client she visits twice a year up there. I do like Susan Harris - she is the only one of the quartet though. The other three I'm not keen on though. Susan kindly posted a picture of my front garden one year on her blog and on GR.

Some thoughts/tips that you can offer: - different types of grass have different requirements, folks might want to check out Walter Reeves's Lawn Calendars to find out what to do for their lawn: http://www.walterreeves.com/lawns/article.phtml?cat=6&id=353 - have fewer weeds next year by making sure that this year's weeds don't go to seed! A favorite rhyme of mine: "One year's seeding equals seven years of weeding" (because the seeds don't all germinate the same year). - when the leaves come down in the fall, save them for a compost pile or chop them up with your lawn mower and use them as mulch under your trees and shrubs. As the leaves break down, they act as free fertilizer for those plants. - fall is a great time to plant trees and shrubs; use the hot summer to research the right plants so that you are ready to plant in the fall. I usually read the columns online, but wouldn't subscribe to the pay site. I find about 1 in 4 of their columns interesting. Some are laughable. Today's was about a person who missed a card payment and was mad about the charges so they went to a "counselor" who told her to stop making all credit card payments for six months. Now of course she has $9,000.00 in charges and the interest rate has jumped to 32%, and minimum payments (minimum payments? what's that?) have gone from $30 to $250/month or something like that. Now she's mad at the world. I think it's funny. But for the recipe help, yes there's a lot of good free sites, but also there's the cooking forum here on GW that is very helpful. Some may know of the one you're looking for and they'll give good suggestions on alternatives and suggestions on where to look. Another thing to try is look for the recipe posted in other areas. If you remember the ingredients and use them as keywords it could help. You might find the recipe posted somewhere, perhaps it was in a column in a newspaper or something. You might even email them and ask for the recipe. Worst thing would be they might say no or not respond. You might get lucky.

I get notifications for new newsletters, but when I tap on the notification on my phone, it opens the app and dumps me on the home page. Then there's no link to the Newsletters section. Bad UI design.

Google "MS Word Templates", or "Open Office Templates" (assuming a Win platform and that you use one of these two programs), then on the resulting web page, search for "Newsletter".

Newsletter templates (pre-formatted files you fill in with your own text) are numerous and free from the repositories the Google search takes you to.

MS Word 2010 has 12 newsletter templates.

Thanks everybody! When I had searched before I was finding everything from pre-school to landscaping, but nothing that would 'fit'. I am either using the HP Mini /win Xperia starter, or an Ipad3. There might be apps for the Ipad, but I have not found one I can use yet.Thx
