Palermo WC from St. Thomas

IÂve been shopping for toilets and was prepared to pay for quality which I thought meant $300+ - the plus being for style. :-) IÂve been concentrating on TotoÂs because of the many great reviews they consistently receive.

I recently stumbled on the Palermo from St. Thomas. The picture doesnÂt do it justice IMO Â I really liked the looks of this toilet and was stunned when I learned it only cost $200 - HomeClick has it for $177.00.

IÂm still really nervous about the price. I thought quality (read: no clogs) would cost more, but IÂm told that the Quattro Flush is an exact copy of the Toto G-Max system, it has a 3" flush valve (like Toto) and a fully glazed trap way (like Toto), and is rated at 1000 grams of waste which beats most of the Totos.

What am I missing???

hopefully nothing cause it's on the top of my list for when i replace the one in my mstr bath next winter.

if there's any problems, i want to hear them in advance!

I went ahead and bought 2 of these so IÂll post a review after we have used them for a while. My 11 y.o. can clog a toilet like no one else, and it is not because of too much TP. She is the reason I wanted a quality toilet that would not clog Â poor little thing was seriously starting to get a complex!

I ended up paying $170 a piece for the ADA height with the soft close seat. IÂm still floored it costs so little. We donÂt move into the new house until August, so it should be September when I post a review. :-)

I have Crocus Rose. I think it is its 4th year now. It really had a bunch of flowers this year. It has taken at least 3 years to get going. This rose is mostly a cream color with some yellow in it. Mine is right about 4 ft in height and about 3.5 ft wide. It needs spraying attention regularly because it will blackspot badly if you ignore it. The foliage on mine is rather small in spite of its diet. The flowers are not as big as I would like, but they do smell good despite not being strongly scented, and they do have some lasting power. This rose was one of the few in my garden that was as good as untouched by the horrendous Easter freeze we had last year. It just seemed to pick itself up and get going. It bloomed reasonably well last year and has gotten off to a better start this year. At first I thought it might be a tossable, but since it is now doing better I will keep this one. It now outblooms some of my other roses.

You (sharron58) are correct about the St. Thomas Marathon. That seems to be the only toilet by St. Thomas Creations that was used in the MaP study. From what I've learned, the Marathon is part of St. Thomas' Eclipse line (low-cost, bottom-of-the-line contractor grade) and does NOT use the Quattro flush system that the Palermo model uses. From what I have seen the Quattro flush is very similar to Toto's top-rated G-Max system (3-inch flush valve, 2 1/8-inch fully glazed trap). You should see the 2 demos on the St. Thomas Creations website -- one is compgraph, the other is video. These and the price sold me. I just purchased both the one- and two-piece Palermos for our home. I had been sold on the Toto Drake and Ultramax, but it was hard to justify spending an additional $260!! (FYI -- I got the elongated, ADA height models) I hope I've made the right decision. I'll try to remember to reply back after a few weeks and let you know how things are going.

I've had a Toto Drake (comfort height, not sanagloss) for about 2 years now in our Master Bath. We are happy with it. No residue and it does a quick thorough flush. Strangely enough despite 24 years of NEVER stopping up the old purple brown Kohler master toilet in this house, about 1 month after the new Toto was installed, we had a clog that required the plunger. I was NOT happy. But it was a one time occurence and we've never had it happen again. I'm wondering it there was some wax ring or something from the old toilet that caused the clog.

msrose, the problems with my Bassett sofa were with the cushions and the fabric. My sofa had a semi-attached back, which was always lumpy and the seat cushions would flatten out and become lumpy in a very short period of time. I think Bassett replaced the seat cushions 3 or 4 times before they finally said no more. They did come out one time and add more fiber fill to the back cushions. They pretty much told me I would have to continue to do that on my own for the life of the sofa. As for the fabric, it did not wear well at all. On one arm, they had not extended the padding out to the end of the arm and the wood of the frame cut through the fabric. Also, the seams they used to join two pieces of fabric were so tiny that they ended up pulling apart. Bassett wouldn't cover any of the fabric problems and I ended up paying a furniture repair company over $100 to deal with the seam issue. My neighbor had similar issues with the cushions. I had heard bad things about La-z-boy (after I bought mine, of course), but so far mine are holding up pretty well. I do have to give the loose back cushions a "restorative massage" once a week or so to get them back in shape, but once I do that they aren't too bad. Totally Confused

Dh and I got 5 Palermos for our new build. They work great. My only complaint is that they can be a bit noisy when you flush and it's filling up with water. That only lasts for a few seconds though because it fills up pretty quickly.We had our minds set on Toto but quickly changed to St.Thomas Palermo.The rental apartment we stayed in for 10 months during construction had 2 Palermos and we were very impressed.My 2 little boys put them through some real tests, tissues etc and they never clogged.
We moved into our new home 6 weeks ago and are still very impressed.Great price and they work great too.We are very happy with our St.Thomas Palermo.
