Thermostatic Valve Gurus - Trim Kit vs. Faucet Handles
Comments (2)The trim plate is sized to cover the hole in the wall. The hole in the wall is sized to allow for replacement of or maintenance on the valve without having to demo any additional wall tile. You could go with a different sized hole or take a single large hole and turn it into two smaller ones. Should maintenance or replacement ever be required, you can go through the tile or go through the back side of the wall if access can be had that way. Just watch what you mix and match. Some escutcheon plates are simply held in place by the knob, some by screws that screw into the valve body. Some have small notches that register them to the valve body. If you decide to go out on your own, just watch for those details....See MoreMix/Match Cross Handles & Levers? Budge?
Comments (3)Thanks so much for posting. I really like how your shower does not compete with the sink - I am going to keep the cross handles for the tub for sure but am concerned over the cross handles on a 4 inch spread for the sink. Aside from yours being 8 vs. my 4 inch spread - are the handles in general easy to manipulate and turn? THANKS!! (P.s - is that Carerra (spelling) on your sink top? I hope it is as that is what I just ordered yesterday and I LOVE the way the cross handles look on that sink top. Very classic..I am leaning towards the cross on this. I think the trouble I am running into on this bathroom is my shower ended up being modern looking while the rest of my bath I am holding back in time - like your bathroom. Very elegant and my shower seems modern. But I will post when all is done..SOON I hope! LMK the thoughts on how hard the cross handles are to manipulate. thanks!...See MoreWhich way should cross faucet handles turn?
Comments (13)at the end of the day, it is always to be the way you want it done, and a good plumber can make that happen. however; it is proper for handles and stems to turn opposite (mirror one another). hot is to turn counter clockwise and cold is to turn clockwise. as for preference- there are sound logicall reasons to have it either way. the only time there seems to be an issue is when the handles are NOT levers. levers are easy to explain by there nature. round and cross levers create debate. since the industry and plumbers like things to be the same or consistant, almost all faucets and especially high end faucets will turn opposite one another regardless of the handle type. but again- a good plumber will make your round or cross handles turn in any direction, left or right- hot and cold. there are many combinations....See Moremain kitchen faucet: cross handles or lever handles
