Sounds lovely! I wish we would have done renovations before baby came. It's crazy with a toddler! haha. Anna from Door 16 (i love that blog!) says she got her marble hex floor tiles at Fuda Tile in NJ. Lots of people love Mondial Tile and Classic Tile and Marble, both in south Brooklyn. Have you looked at yelp for local recommendations? I ended up buying single sheets online, and found a tile I liked at a good price. But if you go that route make sure you get plenty of extras or you may end up running around to local stores trying to match it when your contractors say they need more!

ya think - You are correct, I should not stoop to the tools level and thus will ignore the most recent posts from the angry appliance dealer, mschuma, and a few others. Let me just say - if people want to disagree, thats their choice. But when they choose to insult me, well then they shouldn't expect an all rosy retort. However - to make it clear, the two comments my "screw you" comment was directed at from the initial thread were: Man I love stories about greed and stupidity. and Oh, please! Don't get me going! People who turn the world upside down looking to save the last few bucks on some expensive appliance or luxury car and then go ballistic when things don't go to their satisfaction are one of my major dislikes Which were so far off base and completely missed the point of my post. In fact, on the initial thread that had some 80+ replies - I only posted twice. Yes just twice - the original post and a second one which said: Wow - this thread has gotten a bit crazy since I started it. I am not going to respond to a bunch of comments now (especially those smart-ass ones questioning my intelligence and intentions) - I will do so at a later time. I purposely did not name names in the thread other than asking for contact info at Bluestar / Signature, because I wanted to make sure to speak with all parties involved so I could make sure I fully understood all aspects of this from each party before I posted anything that potentially would impugne someone's reputation / integrity. That is why in my initial post - I said "without going into full details". Since then, I have spoken with the manager of the local appliance dealer, Mike for Indoorxs (who since he posted here, I have no problem now mentioning) and have a message in to someone from Signature. Once I hear from Signature, I will come back with an update and will provide more details. Not sure how my original post or my followup got anyone's panties in a bunch but as promised I came back to fill in the rest of the story for those who were interested. I appreciate their feedback on this thread and I am sorry some trolls have tried to hijack this thread by personally attacking me. I have posted on a number of other threads in this forum to be helpful to others. I believe sharing my experience in this particular case would also be helpful. Its too bad some folks don't feel that way

I have a 48" Blue Star cooktop w/ griddle. I love the high 22K BTU burners. The cooktop arrived with both 22K burners in the front. I wanted one 22K BTU in the back near the center to boil water and improve steam capture. The other big burner is fine in the front for my wok. To change the front burner to the back requires removal of the bowls and grates to expose the burners and tubes. Next pull out the burners and venturi tubes by a backward and up motion. Then turn the burners (attached to the tubes) up-side-down and unscrew two phillips screws on the back of the burner. Do the same to the 15K BTU burner with the longer tube(in the back). Attach the big burner to the back venturi tube and the 15K burner to the front tube. You can leave the gaskets in place since they are the same. Now you must change the orifices for each burner. The orifice fittings are located in the front. The orifice is a brass fitting that is screwed onto the end of the valve. The orifice fitting is exposed when you remove the venturi tube. Orifice removal requires a socket wrench with an extension to undo the fitting from the valve. The 22K burner has a larger orifice and has to match the burner to give sufficient flow of gas. The valves are all the same but the orifices must match the burner BTU size. I think this procedure will make you enjoy your Blue Star more. I also adjusted the low flame by turning a set screw in the stem of the valve. Remove the black knob. Give it a hard straight pull or wiggle it to get it off. Move the valve to the low setting. Then with a small straight slot screw driver turn the set screw clockwise to lower the flame just before the sparking device starts clicking. You can turn it counterclockwise if you go too far to get the perfect setting. Don't try this with a griddle burner since it is only a on-off valve that is controlled by a thermostat and switch. You can do this and you will be pleased with the results. Most gas stoves operate on the same priciple. If you have no clue about the process call an expert to do it.

I read up on use tax, and certainly will pay what's owed at the end of the day, but still have to keep in mind that potentially lower online prices will mean lower taxes as well... Taking the "no tax" issue out of it, I wonder if they might deliver for free as all the online stores I am looking at will. I have printed out the 1 or 2 lowest prices I found online for each appliance. Don't know if these are from acceptable stores as far as the local's price-match policy goes, but worth a shot. I really want to buy from the brick and mortar, but we would like them to be able to come within $1000 or so of the online prices. Hope that is not unreasonable? If there is one item they are really far apart on, we may get that one thing online. I have not yet set foot in this local store (as I mentioned, it is 90 minutes away) but I have to say the customer service so far has been quite good. I emailed them to find out what exactly was in their showroom and have since exchanged 4-5 emails over 3-4 months with one of the salespeople about different products, etc. And they did offer to deliver/service outside their normal area for me. So fingers crossed for Saturday, I'll let you know how it goes! :-)
