'Error code 39'

Hi - I recently bought a Dell XPS M1330 laptop with Windows Vista Home premium pre-installed on it. I connect it via usB cable to an HP laserjet 3015 printer. I had no problems printing until recently -- now I get an error message, and when I check the printer through the device manager on the computer, it has a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark on it, and says "Error code 39," and something about the driver being either missing or corrupted. But the device manager also tells me that the laptop has also downloaded the most up to date version of the printer driver.

I have seen some info. on "Error Code 39" in relation to dvd/cd drives, but not printers. I do not know whether the problem is the same, or what to do about it. Any help or advice would be appreciated, but I am not tech savvy and know little about the workings of the computer, so the help would have to be geared to a novice.

I have tried to get help both from Dell and from Microsoft, and even though my computer is new neither will help me. Dell is supposed to provide support for operating systems that they pre-install, but so far they tell me that they will only provide support for hardware issues.

Do you have the disc that came with the printer, if you do disconnect the printer (usb) and insert the disc and reinstall the printer.

I do have the disk, but the printer is about 5 years old so the disk will be pre-Vista. Will that matter?

I don't think you're doing the diagnostic correctly. For the fault code display, you need the HOLD and SLOW spin lights on. The fault code is displayed via the eight Wash Progress lights. Add up the binary value of the lights that are on. From left to right: 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1 The Med spin light is for testing the lid switch and OOB switch, not for getting the fault code. Correct, the water level transducer is an integral part of the controller board. Being as you were able to blow through the tube successfully, the board may very well be bad. However, if you want to investigate further, you could pull the inner basket and confirm that the small hole to the air dome at side of the tub is not clogged. What's the source of your tech sheet being wet? Being that it's stored inside the console, there shouldn't be any exposure to water unless the water valves and/or mixing chamber thermistor seal is leaking. If so, that needs to be fixed ASAP before the console floods and zaps the board. I'm not sure if this applies to GWL10 or only to newer models, but one of the diagnostic displays should (may) report the sensed water level in millimeters. You could perhaps check if it's sensing a reasonable level for what you observe in the tub. Get in Diagnostic Mode. Press Spin Speed Up/Down as needed to get the Fast and Med spin speed lights. Add up the (binary) numeric values of the lit wash progress lights.

Unfortunately we purchased this piece of junk, the Bravos XL to the tune of nearly a thousand dollars, thinking "heavy duty commercial" would bring a decent machine to last mare than a year or so. Should I suppose have gone with a Samsung. within a year or so we got the dreaded "LF". It happens at least once during a minimum of half the washes we do, on all settings....hot cold, "power wash", delicate, bedding, etc. etc. Beside the fact that every was seems to take a half day to finish, and the "LF" error, its been a wonderful experience. After about a year and a half of reshifting loads, trying to put the heavy at the top, then the bottom, without success, I just resigned myself to the fact the machine is and always will be a piece of crap; One day, when I was in the appliance dept at Home Depot, where I purchased it with a ten year extended "warranty", fresh from a bout of fighting the machine, I walked into the appliance department where we purchased it. What followed was what can only be described as a comedy of errors. First of all the saleswoman interrogated me as to why I had waited so long (apparently she has no concept of "we actually have a life outside of the laundry room"), she reluctantly looked up our transaction only to tell us she could find no record of our purchase, of the machine or the supposed "warranty". After informing me that a customer had just been in and told her that this was the best machine he'd ever had, I became adamant that I wanted SOME kind of answer. She didn't understand why it would upset me to find that home depot, which has a computer system to rival the pentagon, would have no record of my purchases less than two years prior. She proceeded to call HD "service", where she got busy signal after busy signal. Until reading the prior discussion, I had been seriously considering going back to HD and buying the biggest sledge hammer they sell and beating this pile of sheet metal into nothingness.... but now that I realize someone has the answer I'll contact HD and exercise my non existent 10 year "warranty" until these incompetents fix it.

It is now 2018 and I am wondering if bosch sent me your broken ovens. Currently, I used mine got the different error codes called my salesman who told me to trip the circuit breaker. It did reset but then I would get additional error codes so they e sent the Bosch technician who looks like he just graduated high school, he looked at it and like you say when they are in the house you cant get an error code. Of course he leaves and what happens I get an error code. Call for service again and he tells me he needs to order all these parts. I tell him he needs to write in his notes that customer is requesting a new oven. He says he will send request to bosch and it is up to supplier to work it out with bosch. So, now I am waiting for a NEW oven, I am still under warranty but they agreed to change it. So I see these complaints from 2016, dont you think Bosch would have done something technical with this issue? Curious to see how long new oven willtake

What model is your machine? ID sticker should be on back left corner of the console. Error codes are read right to left. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128. Your code is 248 (8 + 16 + 32 + 64 + 128). Are you getting the code reading correctly via Diagnostic Mode? Fault 248 refers to a pump problem and should apply only to AquaSmart models with a specific kind of pump. Your machine appears to be an agitator model per the console layout, not an AquaSmart/impeller unit.

On the error core 39 issue you obviously Googled and good for you. However had you looked more you would have found that this error can affect other hardware. You may just need to follow the instructions on one of the sites you visited to remove the problem entries they note. Be sure to back up the registry first of course. Stay cool and calm and it will be a breeze.

Linked below is a download site for Vista specific drivers for your printer. Did you follow the instructions exactly for installing your printer? HP require you to start installing the software without the printer being attached. At a given point during the install you will be instructed to connect the printer. You might try removing the existing software for the printer and start over. Although if you do the regisrty repair everything may be good.

Thanks to both of you for the advice. I did uninstall and re-install the printer driver, but the problem persists.

And yes, when I googled Error code 39, I did see some fixes that involve deleting subkeys or filters from the registry. I am a little apprehensive about messing around in the registry but am willing to look for sites that have detailed directions and try the repair, but before I do that, are you fairly confident that the directions for the error code re the cd/dvd drivers will also work re a printer driver?

To answer the question above you must realise any advice given on a help forum such as this is based on the knowledge of the people offering the help. Ultimately the computer owner must accept the responsibility and decide to move forward or leave alone.

Personally I would do as those posts suggest after looking at a couple of sites to compare suggestions. Then I would create a Restore point, make a note of each entry edited and move forward. If you wished you could remove a couple then reboot to give you the confidence to move on the others.

In the link below it is only about 6 clicks of the mouse to arrive where you need to be. Then as they state, just look on the right side for the offending entries. Just visit and look without making any modifications first if that will help you feel at ease. Your fear of the unknown is real but just work steadily along and you will be amazed at how easy it really is.

Of course if you have back up software like Acronis True Image then the game is easy, create an image and attack the problem.

Why don't you go here to the HP site for your printer and select the option to have chat help(under Resources), they are quite good and can probably tell you what to do quickly to fix your problem.

If you go to the site provided by ravencajun, find the correct printer driver for vista.

I would delete the current printer set up first. Ensure the printer is not connected, then install the new vista driver.

Obviously, you know how to install a printer, so will stop here.
