American greetings card

I sure thought I put a post in here a few minutes ago removing American Greetings card program but can't find it.. Just as well..

I am trying to remove it as it isn't working & want to reinstall.. It won't remove. I looked on the net for support & found that it usually have to be removed manually & gave below instruction. What I want to know is there a chance I will mess something else up..The 1st part just told how to get to the folder.. I know how to do that.

Can someone with no more computer experience than I have safely do this?

Double-click the C:\ drive.
Double-click the Program Files folder.
Double-click the Broderbund folder.
Click once on the AG CreataCard folder to select it.
Click file from the menu bar and click Delete.
Click Yes if prompted to move the files to the Recycle Bin.
Click the Back button to return to the Program Files folder.
Double-click the InstallShield Installation Information folder.
Click on the (9B58AA53-6EB9-405E-AB6B-6B83C16235F1) folder to select it.
Click File in the menu bar and click Delete.
Click Yes if prompted to move any files to the Recycle Bin.
Close any open programs and return to the desktop.

I would carry out those instructions should be ok..

Dar, It does sound like a corrupt application after a virus attack. I have only recently started to recommend REVO Uninstaller as I have had time to use it under various conditions. In your situation, if I were attempting to remedy the concern I would download and install REVO. Then I would reboot into Safe Mode using REVO to remove American Greeting application. A fresh reinstall of AG should hopefully resolve the concern. DA

To set the record straight on e-cards and viruses - established companies like Blue Mountain do not send emails out that have viruses in them. I don't know about other companies, but there are quite a few out there. Blue Mountain did have a problem but it was over five years ago. Most viruses are sent through "phishing" - that is, the email SAYS it is from Blue Mountain or your bank, or Amazon, or some other trusted entity, when actually it is NOT sent from there. How to tell if you're being "phished"? Well, at the very bottom of a standard browser there is a title bar. When you put your mouse cursor over a link, the address that the link is going to appears in that bar. If it doesn't say amazon.com or bankofamerica.com or what-have you, it is not coming from that site. To try to fool you it may say amazon.something.com. That's not amazon.com. But something.amazon.com IS amazon.com. There HAVE been instances of phishers who have been able to show a fake address in that browser bar. But they were able to do this only on Internet Explorer browser as far as I know, and IE may have solved this issue, so make sure, if you MUST use IE, or any other Microsoft product, to keep it upgraded and up to date. And practice safe web surfing - when you search for something, don't go to just any site that pops up in the search results. Look at the description and check the address in that address bar before you click.

I have used a program called American Greeting #3 and you can use a postcard that is printed 4 to a page. You can take your words right to the edge of the paper. I have used other American Greeting card programs, but the #3 is the easiest to use. It is what you see is what you get. I have used the same program to make candy wrappers of all size using either a post card or label. There are beautiful pictures in it and you can even import pictures if you want. Hope this helps

In the past I've taped a red velvet ribbon to an interior door, with the ribbon taped at the top and bottom of the door and the ribbon running down the middle of it. I would staple the cards (back part) to the ribbon. After the holidays, I would put them all in a box w/ the holiday decorations. Every once in a while I'd look through them, but usually they just accumulated. Finally I saw a news blurb that said St. Jude's was collecting them. I think that was 2009. So I finally went through all the cards from many years and sent off the ones I thought they'd take. I kept some of my favorites to someday use the front as a decoration or gift tag, as well as some of the photo cards. I didn't send 2010's cards to St. Jude's yet - they're sitting in a pile on my sewing cabinet! I just did a quick check on the St. Jude's site and they still have the recycled card program - and it says they also accept all-occasion cards too. I got brave & tried but got as far as step 12 & I can't find that folder. I restored the other folder from the recycle bin.

Boot to safe then go into add/remove and try uninstalling American Gretting cards that way,

Starting xp in safe mode..
Using the F8 Method
1. Restart your computer.
2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode.

Another thing sugar_fl,

When you are in the program file folder like you were and looking for (InstallShield Installation Information folder)

If you press the I KEY ON THE KEYBOARD all the folders that start with LETTER I will become highlighted 1 at a time, makes it easy to find it.

Zep, A lot has happened.. I did a search for that folder on the net.. It mentioned a common folder.. I found that & inside was a Bourderbund folder (makers of American Greetings).. Knowing I could restore it I went ahead & deleted it..
I Have the program installed now..
