Deleting from USB stick

Hello everyone and happy new year!

I was just wondering; when I delete files/photos etc straight from my USB stick they do not appear in the recycle bin after that. Where do they go?

They don't go anywhere. They're gone.

The files are still on the USB stick just like recycle bin stuff is still on the HD after the bin is emptied. The files can be recovered with Recuva or similar programs. After a while the files get overwritten and can no longer be recovered.

Hi Folks, See link below.... I still have a few sticks left but somehow my email folder for the S.Fla folks got deleted. If you still have correspondence from me please fire a response to it back to me...there were 3-4 people from S.Fla that made a request. usb stick wireless nic - any good??

Right now the computer is less than 5 feet from the router. We did an experiment once where I went to a neighbor's house which is 1000 feet across a clear hay field and used her laptop to see how far it could pick up the signal. We got a real good signal in her back yard (about 900 feet). Her laptop had wireless built into it. So I'm getting a good strong signal here at home. If I ever travel anywhere I'd like to know what to expect. Pooh Bear

agree with txKen! registered today to bring us this unbelievable announcement LOL there is no one cure for those kinds of infections they have to be addressed by a layered approach and the use of some very specialized programs under the supervision of a security forum professional. Other wise you are not done with it.

That's strange - I've been successful with freebies. Have you used the explore command in the folder you downloaded to? You may find that the file is actually there and you can transfer it to the stick. I've had to do this several times with freebies. I'm new at this too - my machine is a week old.

Be sure to utilize the Safely Remove Hardware utility before removing the drive. Among other possible consequences for failure to do so is the loss of the ability to reuse the vacated space.

Thanks everyone, I was just curious. And yes I always use the 'safely remove hardware' option just because it's there, but now I know a reason why :-)
