Is gardenweb slow for anyone else?

I have DSL light, every website I go to loads fast, except gardenweb. It takes forever when I click on a thread to read and when I click on the back button.I do have them on my cookie allow list. What's up with this, is it my computer or the website? I don't have any problems anywhere else. Thanks, Nancy

It's just fine.

It could be due to several rwasons most likely technical. Be patient and more than likely it will resolve itself.

It's slow for me also, sometimes I just leave for awhile and try again later.

For a while I've been using the ARF homepage on my favorites for access and it's still working. I did notice that there're some changes in the portals wordage (Home and Garden) and a lot more iVillage references. I wonder if they still have the rosarians.com portal that Spike bought so many years ago. Answering my own question: Linked below doesn't take us to a GW home page with all the rose forums (and only rose forums) on it. Dang. That used to be the easy on I used when away from my own computer and it was fast and (best of all) easy to remember. Now it's just misc. ads. Dang. Dang. Dang. WANTED: Anyone else having trouble with 'Search for Member'

Hi Heather, I tried to look you up under member search and nothing came up, but I can still see your trade list through your member page. I tried to search my name and the names of others that I've traded with and it was about 50/50....weird. I hadn't noticed a problem with this until you pointed it out. My beef is that the pages are taking FOREVER to load. It's driving me crazy!!! It takes between 30 and 60 seconds to load EACH page, even if I'm just using the "back" button. This has been happening for about a week now...talk about frustrating. I do have high-speed internet and a new computer and it only slows down when I come to GW. I love it here but I don't know if I can stand this much longer. Hope they get all the bugs worked out soon :( Trying to be patient, Cindy

Late last night...maybe 11:30 PM or so, I could not access any forum, and in light of what has been happening lately, figured it was down for some maintenance/updating or something and just hoped it would come back up....like my Hotmail did last week. I think GW was back up in about an hour or so. It seems to be moving/loading fine this AM for me. Sue

Mine isn't slow and I don't see the green links that have been mentioned. Sometimes my internet explorer freezes up on me here, but that has been happening on and off for a week or so. The only ad I see here is the Disney DVD ad on the right hand side.

Slow here also, but I'm on dial-up using a MSNTV2/WebTv unit. Some days it so slow I just give up. This forum is really loaded with adds, popups and video advertisements which cause all the problems I'm sure. I do have a computer that has boardband, but I never use it for reading and visiting forums because it is strickly for my work.

I just hate what the new owners have done to the Garden Web forums.......sigh

Yes, I've noticed that pages are slow to load from time to time. Seems to be related to advertising, I just noticed something called bluekai.com (and I've noticed other stuff as well).

I use Ad Block Plus with Firefox and third party cookies turned off. I have the sneaking suspicion that if I turned the cookies back on, the pages would load faster.

Being sure that your logged in to the forum will normally reduce the ads here. And along with Firefox using updated ABP I don't have one single ad on the homepage or this thread.

I just realized it is not just this web site. It happens on another forum I visit. The blue status bar just sits with no stars in it, it will eventually load.
