Problem with spell check

Recently when I type out an email to send, and use spell check it was in French.. I thought I had it corrected when I reinstalled Google. Now today it is back today. French instead of English. Previously I had gone to Tools etc and everything there looks ok.

What it I do now?

I thought about trying to answer this but changed my mind when I read the words "reinstalled Google". I have no idea what that means. More information is needed.

When you say "reinstalled Google" do you mean G-mail?

spell check for firefox?

It comes with. Go to Tools at the top of your screen. Then click on Options. In the window that comes up, click on Advanced, and select the General tab. Look under Browsing, and check the last box. It says something about allowing spell checking. Ask me how I know!

Testing with Firefox 39.0 on the Windows forum... Working for me. "Can it be that individual forums on houzz have different posting rules? don't allow a spell check to be active?" Maybe? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/254712/disable-spell-checking-on-html-textfields I sure don't know why they'd want to though. :)

I received this long, kind of esoteric text from my 7 year old grandson. He doesn't have a phone, but I figured he was watching something on his tablet and decided to text me. It was a bit troubling to me because he's a good communicator and speller, but some of the things he wrote were a bit morose and I got worried about why he was feeling that way. The next day when I saw him, I asked him about it and what was going on when he texted me. "Oh, g'ma, you know those words that pop up when you're writing? I just clicked on those words that came up!" It was pretty funny, when I realized that's what he'd done, written a whole text with autosuggest. Now when he does it (only a couple of times since) I text his parents and tell them he's drunk texting again.

I too am confused, because I am not sure where to look. My Spell check in involved with the google bar on the top of the computer. Will continue to work and this mystery.

Maybe this helps. I went to Outlook Express (my email ) to tools, to options, to spelling. On the bottom where it says Language, it is locked into France. I cannot change it. Don't know how to unlock it/change to English.

I got this from Outlook Express help:

"To check the spelling in messages

Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling command is not available.

In the New Message window, click Spelling on the toolbar, or on the Tools menu, click Spelling.
Note

To customize the way your spelling checker works, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then select the Spelling tab."
