I've been deliberately putting my Toshiba Satellite laptop into hibernation during the day, whenever I'm not using the computer for an extended period of time. I started doing this because my laptop overheated once to the point where I could smell wires burning. : O And, it's overheated a few times since then, but not as much. So, that's the reason I use hibernation.

Try shutting the computer down - not a restart - then start it again. Also perhaps shut down and restart the printer and see how things are.

Asus build a good board mostly, used many of them myself. Currently have a flaky Gigabyte board I need to replace with a lesser Biostar I have here. computer status protected by windows Are you suggesting you have no anti virus or no anti malware programs installed? When did you last remove the left side panel and clean out the dust bunnies that tend to build up in these things? Perhaps the computer is shutting down due to excessive heat, try removing the left side panel for a while and see if that helps. This is not a permanent fix but will give us somewhere to start from. If you feel it may be heat related you might try installing the free version of Speccy. This will give you lots of information including temp readings. You can also get these of course by entering the BIOS on startup but you get details without the computer being under load.

My laptop, sleep is slightly less than 1-watt load total on the a/c adapter. Sleep puts the configurations and all open items into RAM memory and keeps the memory powered just enough so it exists. When you power back on its there already in memory ready to go. Hibernate, writes everything to a file on the hard drive and uses no power at all. When you power back on the hard drive spins up to speed and it writes it into memory and within a few seconds its ready to go. Takes a few seconds longer than sleep as it has to write from hard drive. RAM is way faster storage. Hibernate can take a good chunk of hard drive space.
