I was trying to download from: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=Flash_Player_10.1_for_Windows_Internet_Explorer&p=Google_Toolbar_6.5&d=McAfee_Security_Scan_Plus&os=XP&browser=ie&type=activex I made sure it was a download for Windows XP. Made sure I had enough room to download it. I am using IE8. I only use my AOL for email because I've had it set up since 1997 and I am too lazy to go around changing my email addy with all that have it for social and business. So I wanted the flash player to load for IE8 as that's the browser I use for all my searches/internet activity. I did just recently add service pack 3 to my computer and the first time I tried to download it I had problems. That's the first time my friend told me about this site here at GW. I ended up being able to get the service pack 3 on my second try. I tried a second time with Adobe Flash 10 and then again a third time but even though I get the message box that says it's been downloaded, I see that it's nowhere in the Add/Remove section. Again, thank you!

it depends on your browser and where it has been set to put your downloads at, you can change the default location or simply tell it to ask each time which is what I do because I want different things to go to different areas. In firefox that would be in tools > options> the Main tab > save files to (browse to select location) or always ask me where to save files. I don't remember the exact location for it on IE but you can look in tools> internet options and probably find it quite easily. for those that it may have already downloaded and you can not find go to search and search for the file name on your pc, and look in the all programs area too.

OK - I tried uploading directly from my camera to Photobucket - and you cannot do that. DANG! Here is an easy way to upload your pics to a computer (you never need to use the camera software - I really dislike Kodak especially, but if you are comfortable with it, that is ok) Plug your camera in to the computer, or place card into card reader. Go to MY COMPUTER and find the device. Double click on it and your images should pop up. You may see them as thumbnails, tiles, icons, or list - depending on how your computer is set...you can always change that. Click on the first image you want to copy - then hold down the shift key and select the last image you want to copy - this will select all of them in between also. Right click and select copy. Go to the Desktop of the computer. Right click on a blank area and mouse over NEW-> go over to FOLDER and click on that to create a new folder. You can rename it when you create it or just leave it named NEW FOLDER (it doesn't matter). Double click on the folder to open. Right click and select PASTE. Your photos will be zipping into this folder! You can upload to Photobucket like normal from there. This will NOT remove the pictures from your camera card. Delete your folder when you are done. DON'T forget your card if you have removed it from your camera!! You can create the desktop folder at any time - you also don't have to have it located on the desktop - but this would be easiest while you are traveling so you don't forget to delete. You should be able to practice this at home. If you can't shut down the Kodak program - just let it do it's thing - then try it after it has finished. Or try it at a library. The little thumb drives (USB drives) and camera memory cards are the same thing - just in a different package. An external hard drive is just like a thumb drive, just bigger. THumb drives are so easy to lose! They are just the handiest things - but they go missing for me all the time.... Buy some extra cards before you travel. Try them out before you go. Format them in your camera first!! They are cheap and you can NEVER EVER take too many pictures :) If this doesn't make sense at all -I can post screen shots later (probably tomorrow)

I used to work on the 47th floor of the 110 story Sears Tower. I never was stuck, but after hearing about some people that were, I had some fear that I would get stuck. I can't explain the physics of it, but one time the building swayed from winds but the elevator to the top did not. So the elevator stopped abruptly on a high floor after it hit the sides of the elevator shaft. I never thought about tall buildings swaying the wind, but on windy days, if you were near the center of the building, you would hear it creak. Also, at tall heights, even the most miniscule scratch on a window could cause it to shatter. Those in window offices, especially on the corners had a device to measure the wind pressure on the windows. If it got too great, an alarm would sound and they would have to leave their office. There was also a very old office building in Chicago that only had a skimpy grate instead of an elevator door. For some reason, that bothered me looking at it. Of course, that was after I already had a little fear of elevators from working in the Sears Tower. Terrible precursor to the World Trade Centers. When we had fire drills, we only went up one or two flowers. They told us that there was no way that the Tower could be totally evacuated in enough time. They also told us that the floors were fireproof so that going up a couple of floors would be sufficient. I stopped working there in 1979, but even then, it was a target for terrorists. The winds in front of the Sears Tower could be tremendous. On very windy days, they would put ropes in front of the building. You would need to hold on to the ropes so that a wind gust would not blow you into the street. I was not a lightweight - I couldn't believe that the wind could actually move me a couple of feet.
