you will need to know which version of AVG you have if it is the new version 8 AVG and if it is the free or paid version. If this is a new built pc you should probably let the builder troubleshoot it. Here is a link to the forums at AVG where you could ask them this question, however you will need to provide the version info and give them your pc info also. There is a dedicated email scanner which in version 8 you can turn off to see if that would change how your mail is acting. That way you might be able to determine if it is working ok with out the AVG email scanner then you know what might possibly be conflicting. Here is a link that might be useful: AVG forum

It should not be an issue then. However, if you would like to learn about the feature check the the hide box and select the customize button>Apply>OK. Be sure to uncheck and the follow up clicks to return to your previous settings. It's really easy and can clean up a crowded Taskbar/Notification Area. DA

There is a very effective program that you can download for free called "Spam-Aid", it will block ALL messages that are from anyone that is not listed in your address book.It is installed on your computer as a separate program and you can use it, or bypass it to check your email the usual way without anything being blocked. Just keep in mind when using Spam-Aid to check you mail, EVERYTHING is blocked and deleted at the server except for messages from those that are listed in your address book. It is very effective at what it does, I use it and am well pleased with it. I might add that the program does have a way for those whom you know that are not listed in your address book to get a messsage delivered to you by way of a "password" which they can obtain from a clue you give them in setting up the program.
