That's an interesting observation, steve_mass; I suppose the aims of posting can be very different in other forums. In the Building a Home forum, people often want to be able to post a building plan with enough detail so they can read the dimensions (small text). It also may be their first post so Tiny Pic is often recommended by that forum as the easiest way to get photos online. In the New England forum a thread will often get long with photos posted by many people. One big photo will disrupt everything after it, making the whole thread difficult to read. Close detail isn't necessary, even for plant identification since the ID is likely to be more a case of identifying a species, not a specific cultivar (hostas can be very similar). Picasa is very popular here in New England, possibly because of the enthusiastic support of some of the regulars (as well as its many fine features before I get flamed). Including a pic in the message is the gold standard, but this is a pretty relaxed forum and I think people would rather see a link in the box than not see a pic at all. Claire

I believe this is the solution. Got this mssg from my son not long after my OP. I did not know he was looking into it. It is long. >>Looks like you're using Outlook Express 6, which hasn't been updated in years. Cue standard rant about upgrading.... I looked at the "source code" of the mail, which shows what the actual text of the message is, and I can see that it's using a multi-part format. Part 1 is a plain text version of the email, and Part 2 is the HTML version of the email. That version doesn't have any indication of what font to use, so you changing it on your side wouldn't make any difference. Take a look at this: http://ask-leo.com/why_does_my_email_sometimes_show_up_with_funny_characters_like_0d_in_it.html It seems that your client is using "quoted-printable" which might be causing some of the problems for people using newer email clients. Maybe. I don't see the odd "=" signs sprinkled around, but they might be interfering with the HTML rendering on some clients. When I read your email in gmail via its website, your email looks okay. (The blue background and tiny font is stripped away.) But when I use a local email application (Mac's Mail.App), the blue background is still there, and the font is smaller than my selected default, but not TOO small, which means, I think, that the quoted-printable stuff is correctly interpreted. When I use Sparrow Mail (a desktop app that integrates with gmail), it's tiny. Sparrow is a brand new application, so they've probably not yet felt the need to deal with old-school quoted-printable content.OK back to me in OEX 6...........I went to: Tools > Options > Send > Mail Sending Format > Settings (HTML or Plain, whichever) > Encode text using: (None or Quoted Printable or Base 64) choose None. I had been sending email using HTML with the MIME mssg format setting 'Encode text using: Quoted Printable' . I changed that to None. The Plain Text Mime Format was set by default to: 'Encode text using: None'. I then sent emails to my Inbox account both HTML and Plain Text. The Plain Text-None font came out proper size. The HTML - None font was still tiny. Now why was I using HTML all these years? Well the HTML Compose Pane has a format toolbar. The Plain Text pane does not. Evidently with OEX 6 you can have formatting ability or Plain Text - not both. On my Yahoo account the choice is Rich Text with formatting or Plain without. So it would seem I need to use OEX Plain Text or another email program to eliminate recipients getting tiny font mssgs.

they are there you just have to get the mouse cursor over them they look like a little triangle of lines in the corners just click and hold down the mouse button and drag. Here are more options from some Ie tips sites Opening Internet Explorer Full Size Ever notice sometimes you right-click on a link and open a new window and it's not full screen? This usually occurs because IE remembers the last window size when closed. Many times a background pop-up will do this too, if it is the last window closed. To resize the window and regain control: * Close all instances of Internet Explorer except for one. * Right-click on a link in the page and select: "Open in New Window" * Close the first browser window using the [ X ] (upper right corner) * Resize the window manually by dragging the sides to the desired size. Note: Do NOT click the Maximize button, you must do it manually. * Hold down the Ctrl key and click the Close button (upper right) You can also try this if possible for Ie To increase or change the size, click on the Restore button, the middle one in the upper right hand corner of the toolbar. Resize the window and then close the Internet Explorer The next time you click on a hyperlink, it will open to the size you set. or If you do not mind always having maximized IE windows, another approach is to edit the IE shortcut. Right-click on the shortcut that you use for IE and choose properties in the context menu. In the drop-down menu for "Run" select "Maximized". (Secondary IE windows will not inherit this setting).

Here are some settings to check to be sure the comp is set up for your monitor: Rt click desktop, then properties, then settings tab (be sure the screen resolution is set to your monitor's native resolution, found in the literature which came with it), color should be set to highest 32 bit, then click the advanced button at the bottom, click on the monitor tab (be sure you monitor is listed correctly), then click the properties button and make sure your video card is listed properly. If all is well, then you know it's not the hardware settings. If something is wrong and you can't fix it, let us know and we can help some more.
