***Gee, without a photo, everyone is just guessing.*** Yeah, Cass, but really there's nothing to see but skinny naked canes. They're green except where the tips are brown with little bits of fried new growth. I doubt I could even take a well focused picture of them. I just didn't know why it would be happening over and over. Perhaps these Teas and Chinas are so tough they just don't know to lay down and rest a while until they recuperate. ***whenever I've seen fried baby leaves it's been due to a water uptake problem.*** Anita, this sounds logical. I assume transplant/root damage would be the cause of this? And as it recovers, this will improve? ***but since it is the same rose - and I don't think too many people got it - I thought that any input about it might be of some assistance.*** Funny you should say this, Laura. I had been drooling over MJP during the first Vintage sale because it is said to be a smaller Tea, but it wasn't on sale. When the second sale email came and she was on the cover of the sale catalog, I nearly fainted and couldn't get the Vintage site up fast enough! I just new rose lovers would see that bloom and buy out every single one before I could hit the "Submit" button. I sure hope she does well. Thank you all for all the input - very valuable stuff. I'll just pamper them for a while and trust that these tough little plants will pull through. I've got a spot now for Mutabilis so maybe he'll do better in the ground - unless I should wait for him to recover(?). The interesting thing about Mutabilis is that it came potted basically in pine bark fines and my watering all summer had washed out a good bit of it and left roots at the bottom of the pot exposed, but it still had leaves and even bloomed a bit. Then I put it in nice new soil and poof! He went into shock! Thanks again. Sherry

My jam recovered!!!! It had a miracle cure! I don't know what the heck happened. It's been sitting in my (broken) fridge for a couple days while I dealt with other stuff. I pulled it out today, to throw it in the trash. Just as one last chance, and because I was so sad to lose this jam, I asked a brave friend to take a tiny taste. I was afraid to. He said it was fine, and took a big spoonful -- which I would have stopped him from doing if I had seen him! That was ok too, though. So I tasted one grape worth. Hard to tell with my throat still sore from the other day, but seemed alright. Got another friend to taste it. We all agree it is delicious and non-fatal. So I don't know what the heck happened! The jam had cooked more, in its own heat, after I had my mishap with it and before it was cool enough to go in the fridge. Maybe that fixed it? Or, one of my friends suggested, maybe there was some sort of bug in the bite that messed me up? I would think I would have seen, felt, or tasted a bug, but I guess you never know. Anyway, I am VERY happy to have my grape jam after all. And rather surprised it did not ferment in the 50 degree fridge.

Funny, I had something similar happen to me this morning ... right before I read your post. The pepper was an Hawaiian Sweet Hot, so it wasn't anything super hot, but on the very first bite, I instantly had the hiccups. I've never had a pepper do that to me before. The last bite had a lot of placenta on it, and got me towards the back of the throat, and eventually I felt the burn in my chest and stomach. I wouldn't say I had trouble breathing, but the burn in the chest area had me a bit anxious for a moment. For a second, I wondered if I was going to through up, but I think it was more from the hiccups than anything. I've never eaten anything hotter than a habanero, so this experience has me even more afraid to try a super hot than I was before!

All my typing in Yahoo mail was blue this morning! And it wouldn't "send" my messages, either! I kept getting a message to try again later. It seems to have been fixed a few minutes ago.
