Satin Nickel door knobs with polished chrome hinges

Hello all - for our new home being built our pre-hung doors were ordered and shipped with polished chrome hinges. Now we realize we would like the door knobs to be satin nickel (Schlage Plymouth). Does anyone have this type of combo - any pictures would be most helpful! Never realized how stressful this process would be!

I am all for mixing metals. One color for faucets, another color for light fixtures, etc.

But I think your hinges and door knobs need to match.

If you want satin nickel knobs, find out how much more it will cost to replace the hinges with the same color.

At least that is what I would do.

I think the same as red_lover. Mixed metals in rooms can look great, but hinges and door knobs need to match. I would either switch out the hinges for satin nickel or do chrome knobs (I have polished nickel knobs in my master bath and they look great so chrome could be really pretty I think).

bumping this up. Anyone out there who's actually done what I'm proposing? My California migrated lighting designer-who's helped me immensely on many kitchen design issues, is a bit more of a purist on finishes. My notes of our early discussion show he suggested hardware in satin or stainless steel for their sheen but not brushed nickel which is more matte. Antique nickel, brass, antique (aged) bronze etc was also high, polished nickel not so much. Also, I recently saw a "what's new in 2013 kitchens" and it said popular hardware are satin, orb, some brass, but not seeing as much polished. If you know of a "bright" satin cabinet hardware maker, please do share. A lot might depend on the base metal in the collection. :/ Thanks again.

My master bathroom has white cabinets , Carrara marble floors and counters all fixtures are polished nickel …i think they are a little ore upkeep than the chrome, but love the color. I need to change out my shower head…any opinions on using a chrome or satin nickel shower head even though the shower trim is polished nickel? I never wipe off my showerhead except when i clean the bathroom…lol

I would use Satin Nickel as the place holder. In fact you may realize in short order that you never even notice the satin versus polished hardware difference.

That would drive me nuts. I also am all for mixing metals throughout the home and even in the same room. It adds interest. But the door hardware needs to match. If it doesn't it might look like you changed the knobs out but left the hinges. I'd change those hinges if you're going with nickel knobs.
