How about some cinnamon ornaments You can have the dough mixed ahead of time. We did that at a SR activity one year. Non-edible of course

Hi Jewels...what about shiny balls that would normally hang on the tree,only cover them with a crocheted doily,which can be purchased or crocheted...leave the doily big enough to cover the ball and to have some left over at the top to add ribbon to or for embellishments...they work up quickly and look fantastic.

I got light bulbs at walmart that had a design on them painted the metal gold and the bulb white and added glitter. put leaves flowers and ribbon on them look good. Also added copper wire around the metal part for the hanger. Judy

I've taken the colored balls and the "real" paint rub-ons and made ornaments for years. I tie some type of bow with thin ribbon at the top and use a paint pen to write the yr on the back and that it's from the Hogan's. If you buy the ornaments after Christmas you can get them dirt cheap. Even at full price you should be able to make them for less that a dollar a piece.

One year I copied something I saw at a craft show - very easy - Buy a small teddy bear at craft store - glue a shiny round colored ornament to its hands and wrap some metallic thin garland around the bear as though he got tangled up in it while decorating.

Christmas Kisses

Take small styr balls (the kind you can pinch so they change shape). Squeeze until they look like Hersey kisses shapes. Cover with kitchen aluminum foil and insert a strip of paper that says Merry Kissmus? You can print those on your computer and cut into 1/4 to 1/2 strips.

Tie a red or green ribbon around the gathering and attach a little yellow/gold cord.
When we made them the Sr's loved them.

I know this is an old thread, but in case it might help anyone else looking for holiday crafts for adults, I usually look around for a while, give up and go to Martha. I'm not her biggest fan, but she's got tons of holiday crafts that don't seem as cheap and ridiculous as the kids' stuff.

Another good resource can be some of the women's magazines like Family Circle, Women's Day, and Good Housekeeping. I think they all have "adult" crafts on their websites.

I haven't made any of these yet, but bought several at a craft show that I recently attended. Buy clear glass ornaments (irridescent are nice) and pour paint, two or three colors, on the inside of the ornament and hold on side to swirl the paint colors. From what I read on some websites, rubbing alcohol needs to be poured on the inside of the ornament so the paint with adhere, drained and dried before adding paint. After paint has been poured and swirled, set the ornaments upside down in a paper cup to dry. It does take two days for the paint to completely dry. Not sure how long it would take for paint to set up enough to finish embellishing the ornament with ribbon and bow around the metal part of the ornament.

The ornaments wouldn't be complete without making an S shaped beaded wire hanger. I love these. I have loads of beads and pearls from my daughter collecting for years. I used bendable jewelry wire, with needle nosed pliers, pinch one end of the wire, cut in desired length, start adding beads, different sizes, colors, etc. and pinch back the other end of the wire. Then bend in the S shape or other shapes to hang your beautifully hand painted ornaments or other ornaments. I'm planning this craft with my grandaughters this Christmas and my 4-H club next year. I love the idea of crafting with your friends. I do this with a craft committee at my church, but it would be nice to have a crafting party with friends, too.
