I saw your message on another thread about your plans for dish storage. That will work out great, I am so happy for you. Alfred is quite a guy!

The house we live in now has a dedicated dish pantry across one end of the dining area. It is behind sliding doors; not really noticeable. The shelves are very substantial -- no telling how much weight they could hold. It is so nice to have easy access to dishes, linens, and glasses. I used to be exhausted from crawling around digging dishes out of the bottom of cabinets, tablecloths out of upstairs closets, napkins in a drawer, etc.

I just went in there and measured. The closet is 27" deep, and the shelves are about 17" deep. Shelves are different heights, with the bottom ones 24" from the floor. This gives room to store tall vases, candlesticks, etc.

I would show a pic, but my camera is being very cranky right now.

Good luck.

From a former "storage containers behind the couch" gal.
