Auburn has never been known for its basketball team..I just take it for granted that they will not have a good season. Plus I don't follow basketball...it irritates me. all that running up and down on that nice hardwood floor...lol
LOL! You sound like an Iowa State football fan... Our mantra for football is "next year" ... LOL!
This year was AWFUL - but everyone loves the coach. He is very passionate. Won the last two games and canned some of the coaching staff - so .... NEXT YEAR!!!!
Basketball has been going strong this year - some big wins. The BB coach is also loved - home town boy - played at Iowa State under Johnny Orr, then pro. He has really done well with the program.
I don't watch basketball but I sure did watch the Auburn/Alabama football game and loved, loved the ending....I'm a Notre Dame fan and even missed the 1st quarter of that game watching the Auburn game......
Btw to show how intense the rivalry is two women got into it and one pulled a gun and shot the other one 5 times, killing her. This is not an uncommon occurrence after an Iron Bowl. Coaches are fired for losing THE GAME. Nothing else matter when it comes to the Iron Bowl. I have seen a law partnership break up over the Iron Bowl and they were incorporated! This is especially true if Auburn wins. Alabama fans just don't take losing very well and many are poor sports. Like those that threatened Cade Foster's life because he missed that last field goal that Auburn ran back to win the game.Chris Davis got a standing ovation when he walked into class on Monday. We are the better sports, because we have a saying..."wait til next year".
Now we do have some pretty cool ribbing t-shirts coming out that even I would love to have. One is "Hey Nick(saban) Got a Second??" the other one is "Cry Bama Cry" with AU in the tear drops another one is "Kick Bama Kick" since they missed so many field goals & had a punt blocked. The game is all about bragging rights especially to those of us born and raised in Alabama. When a baby is born in AL the first question asked after you see about the baby & mother is he/she going to be a Bama fan or an Auburn fan? Not is he/she going to be raised Catholic or Jewish that comes later.
I have seen marriages break up over the AL/AU I have seen split marriages work also. They usually have a House Divided car tag. etc
In the state of Alabama the Iron Bowl sets the tone of the state until the next Iron Bowl
