Woodfield Tea & Toast Set on the Porch Wall Shelf

The day flew by as I decorated more on the porch ... I love these Stubenville Woodfield pottery tea & toast leaf plates that I started collecting...this is the 'salmon' color ... gorgeous, aren't they! & our good friend, Jane, here on the forum helped my collection along by sending me a place setting some time ago!

And here's the top of the Hoosier cabinet ... these apple gourds I grew a few yrs back & painted ... & the basket is a thrift shop one filled w/miniature Indian corn (farmers' market purchase last yr). TFLookin'! Jeanne S.

Jeanne, I always enjoy seeing your Woodfield dishes. So glad you had time to get your shelf decorated to share. Love how you added the jar, bird, vase and a few leaves for a little pop. I also noticed the candle light on. Gives a warm glow to this setting. You have such a nice touch when it comes to decorating.

Oh yea, those apple gourds you painted and saved. Love them! Why can't I remember to save mine instead of throwing them out every year. Now your saving corn too. Your just so smart. Your basket w/corn and gourds on top of the hoosier looks nice sitting beside the gourds.

Jeanne, I enjoy seeing your Woodfield dishes too.
They ARE wonderful, and they look perfect on your a hanging shelf.
The gourds are neat. I don't think I've seen apple gourds before.
Your porch looks like such a warm inviting place to visit.

LL, glad to hear your kitty is better. Things have been crazy around here too, nothing like being retired and overworking! The watering alone with all the new plants is a constant job so I just seem to pull weeds as I'm watering. Really should set aside a day to do it properly but there are so many other things to do. I love Victoria magazine also but only occasionally pick up a copy. Nice teacup Schoolhouse! I love seeing your lovely cups. I really should unpack more of mine. Haven't seen them in years as have no place to put them. Only have about a dozen in use/display that were yard sale finds. I've been drinking iced tea today as it was nearly 80 here. Lovely day and I spent quite a few hours outside and finally finished my new rose bed we started from scratch. Then made a big batch of mulch for it and applied it. So tomorrow it's on to something different, we're going to get back to fencing and I also have to paint the inside of my garden house. I think I might be looking forward to winter this year for a rest! Oakleyok, I love your teacup nightlight! Since you ladies appreciate china teacups I'll show a few of mine. Except for the 2 demitasse on the top shelf all these were yard sale finds for $1-2. each. I can't resist a nice teacup! The 'cabinet' was made by my DH and faced with an old frame from a YS.

Our GC had a wonderful exercise for us. His assignment even before we met was to have DH & me write out our top 20 items/ideas for the house (in order of importance). We did this seperarately w/o knowing each other's top 20. We then brought this list to GC on our first meeting. This enabled him to get the big picture. We also took these lists to the architect. Along with this list, was a photo of what we desired & a layout we thought we liked. As the process has developed, all of our smaller, nitpicky items have come out. GC has appreciated the thought process that I've put into it all. He said it has made everything move smoothly. In the end, I will have less daily choices to make. Although I did SO much research prior to all of our meetings, I have welcomed GC's ideas & knowledge, as well. Afterall, we are hiring him for his skills, knowledge, & expertise. He has been doing this 30+ years & I have only just recently begun this process. I definitely would not go into this seeming like a total know-it-all or you will make GC's life quite unpleasant. Also, in all honesty, about 90% of our desires for our home, GC had already planned for, so I would really be looking for the best GC you can find.

Red Rose tea isn't Canadian anymore, it is owned by Lipton. I didn't like it when they changed the packaging from the green and white box with the red rose to an orange coloured box. Even though I drink it still, somehow it doesn't taste the same as the old Red Rose Tea. While I was drinking my tea earlier I was thinking about mugs. When I was a child mugs were used for cocoa, coffee and shaving cream. LOL As far as dunking donuts in tea I have never done that but I used to love cookies dunked in tea and the best of all was hot toast with peanut butter dunked in my tea. I can't have anything with peanuts anymore so I really miss that. LOL Moni, my Aunt in North Bay used to have a koffeeklatsch with all the neighbour ladies. I loved it whenever I visited there.Sometimes they were more elaborate than any of the high teas I have been to. My Mom always had the ladies over for tea in our house. LOL Lori, you made me laugh because my Mom held her pinky finger up but she didn't do that until she had Alzheimers. I used to get a big kick out of it and I would ask her if she was having "tea with the Queen" LOLOL In many British families "Tea" can be a meal just like lunch is and it can be a hearty meal at that. Grandma used to say "come for your tea" which translated meant "come for lunch" Sometimes it was the heartiest meal of the day. Tea is not just a beverage, it is social gathering with friends and family. Anne

I love the silvery bronze color! It reinforces the delicacy of the chairs, and is much cooler than black would be. Yes, turn the table 45 degrees to the corner, pull it out a bit, and put a big potted tree in that corner behind it. Stick to natural candles in big glass chimneys. Cover the cushions in a bold Sunbrella cream and terra cotta or cream and sky blue stripe, and add pillows in a coordinating tropical print. Put a generous sized indoor-outdoor rug in a natural texture with a deeper or patterned border, but don't overdo the patterns...you want the pattern of those fabulous chairs to dominate. I would also find a big old mirror at a flea market or consignment store, paint the frame with exterior paint to match the stripe, and hang it vertically over the pot in the photo. Amazing what a mirror outside can do! Pack your planters with a mixture of fragrant herbs and colorful foliage and blue and yellow flowering plants, and you'll have a real oasis out there! (I know...I always go a bit too far...but I always want to describe what I see in my mind's eye, in case you might like it, too.) Jeanne..Love - Love the Woodfield Dish display on your
porch shelf!
The color is so soft looking against the white and the
accent pieces you added are just perfect.
The bird votive (one of my favorites of yours) adds such a nice
glow and I love how the painted apple gourds are
nestled on top next to your basket of mini corn..
What a lovely setting.
I really look forward to seeing your displays
on 'MY' favorite pieces you have !! lol

Thanks punk, nana & jane ... ohh, I do like those Woodfield plates & cups, too! I have 4 colors ... but just a few of the other 3 colors ...Golden Fawn is on the shelf here above the sliding glass doors ...not a real good pic but you get the idea:

Jeanne, I love all your colors of the Woodfield dishes. I've seen the brown ones on ebay but never at the price I want to pay.LOL I keep hoping to come across some of these while out shopping. Then again on second thought I better just enjoy yours because I have way to many.

However, just seen CL has an old scrolled secreatary for $300 that is beautiful. Good thing I'm working this week or I'd be checking that baby out!!! I really could become a hoarder!YIKES At least all of my stuff would be clean and organized.LOL

Your pretty dishes look great displayed on your cabinet. Nice way to be able to enjoy them too. Love the basket of corn and the gourds, you are so good at using items from nature in your decor. Luvs
