trying to download free ccleaner

I tried to download the following free Ccleaner and it would not allow me to download it ...It says the following: "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be dowloaded"...

CCleaner is free...it is red with a brush.. Any suggestions. I have Dell Desktop Dimension DXPO51, 2.00 GB of RAM, Windows XP Home Edition, IE 8.0, Microsoft Essentials, Windows Firewall.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you! Marie/Cricketm

Try it from the link below , choose save when the window opens and save the file to the desktop, then double click it to install Cleaner. That error you're getting is an Internet explorer error, you would need to change the security settings in the browser to medium. Lets see if this works first.

Here is a link that might be useful: ccleaner/download/slim

Thx Ravencajun, I'll use this scan. I am always very careful with surfing, ditto on email! Grady it is the server. They flash anote and give you 60 sec notice. And I do supposedly have accelerated download...Hah! Very frustrating night, last. I downloaded the Avira only to have it finish and tell me there was an error and to download it again. Then decided to try AVG, downloaded just fine, but wouldn't install. Told me the installation files were corrupt and to download a fresh copy! grrrrrrr. I guess I'll try downloading it again tonight! In the meantime on to the on-line scan.

Thanks owbist. I tried with the W7 text to speech but must be doing something wrong since it only recognized the heading and the google info but not the body of the text on a website. I'll keep trying it and others. I'm sure I'll find something that will read webpages eventually. Yeona

Windows Update had nothing to do with it. You may have accidentally downloaded it to some other location on your computer. As long as you didn't interrupt the download, it should be there somewhere. If you try to download it again, pay close attention to where it says it's going to be saved. For reasons too complex to explain, downloads can go to different locations; you can always change this before the download starts, but you should never assume a download is going to the "usual" location. You need to carefully check the download location before clicking on the save button.

If you happen to use Firefox, this is what I currently use: Download YouTube Videos as MP4 (Very easy to use) A less automatic but interesting approach, using VLC: The Best Hidden Features of VLC (Not quite as quick and easy but you don't need to add an extension) "Does YTD Downloader qualify?" I don't know. I try to stick with open source. Firefox extensions are open source. VLC is open source. YTD Downloader is not. That's just me though.

Glad it worked, I was suspicious of your download link, that's why we tried another one first. Rather then fool with the browser security settings.
