Taking text, &, or pics out of a pdf file?

I want to take a couple pdf's apart and use some of the text, and pics within. Is there a simple, and I mean simple way to do this, or are they "locked" in there never to be removed? I am working with pdfs that are made and sent by others, not those I make up myself. I think I can do those with no problem.

If you can create a PDF file then use the same program to open this one.

Most of us have just the simple PDF reader as we do not need to create PDF files.

If you cannot open it then the pictures can be had by taking a screen shot and editing it in your photo editing program. Place the photo where it is fully visible then tap the 'Print Scrn' or 'PRN SCRN' key next to your F12 button. Open your photo editor, right click in the work space then click Paste in the pop up. Crop to your liking and name it.

Oh owbist, I never thought of that, I am not into some of the programs I even have on the machine, but have used Paint, and print screen many times, just need to review I guess. Thanks a heap, good thinking, and much appreciated. Gonna give it a shot.

Roselvr - Thanks for the fast help. I found out that it was the website that kept putting them out as text files. I did what you said with the temp files but they didn't change back. But the new ones I saved came in jpeg. Unfortunately, I deleted them before I read your reply so I couldn't try changing their name. Will changing the name of a text file to jpeg work all the time. Is that all I have to do? On pictures, naturally. Just in case it happens again. Thanks again, Debbie.

Thanks mikie! I went to the search page and didn't take long to get a headache. I think this is going to be way out of my realm. First I changed a Word document into a pdf file and now I gotta embed it back into a html page. When I add the file to an html page, all I get is the page with my background scheme showing. Somehow, this was not what I had in mind. I know it's possible because I see it every day, but I'm just not smart enough to figure it out.Thanks again! Ida

I don't know why you're getting that message. You don't need to buy Adobe Acrobat to read a PDF document. You can just download the free Adobe Reader. The versions of Adobe Acrobat that you have to pay for are for those who want to create fancy PDF documents. Also, there are many other free PDF readers available. The one I prefer and use is Foxit Reader, which would works at least as well as Adobe Reader and has a program only about 1/10 the size. Here is a link that might be useful: Foxit

It sounds like two issues are going on there - getting photos off your phone, and files having their extensions changed. For the latter, first you need to determine if the files were actually changed to pdfs or just the extensions changed (the dot and last three letters, as in .pdf, or .doc) Try right clicking on one file, choosing "rename" and changing the extension to what is was originally - .doc or whatever. Don't worry about the warning - you can change extensions as many times as you like. If it opens you're going to have to rename each file by renaming the extension. Programs that can rename, like the one included with "FileMenuTools", can do that in batches but if you're not a bit experienced it might feel a bit challenging. If it still doesn't open after changing the extension, something deeper has happened - the file itself may have been altered. If that's the case, I would guess you might have some sort of virus and I would do a completely scan with an antivirus and/or anti malware program.
