I was in this thread looking for something on HP, didn't find it here or in a search. For those in the know on HP an easy one. Is the Pavillion model consistent in the general quality of the case and keyboard - a shared quality? I ask because I like the one below but can't find it locally... I can find Pavillion at my Discount Store (BJs - where my last 3 laptops were purchased) and so I can to a "look-see" at other versions of the Pavillion. Something else that bothers me is the physical size (it is a 17.3" and will be used to move from room-to-room, not for travel) Item Dimensions L x W x H 3.10 x 22 x 13.60 inches Forget the confusion of the listed LWH... the 3.1 must be how thick it is, can it be that thick? A compact desk top computer box may be no more than 5" thick. My current Toshiba and most others I see in the store are just over 1" thick, maybe 1.5" but nothing near 3". The specific machine I'm targeting is: HP Pavilion G7-2220us 17.3-Inch Laptop Sorry for any typos, basically is the Pavilion an HP line with similar physical look/touch? And what about the thickness?

I found this in Help and Support. In the Control Panel open Accessibility Options Icon and click Mouse Tab and than Setting. To move the mouse pointer by using MouseKeys If you have not already done so, turn on MouseKeys. To turn on MouseKeys, open Accessibility Options, click the Mouse tab, and then select the Use MouseKeys check box. Use the buttons on the numeric keypad to move the mouse pointer. If MouseKeys doesn't function, press NUM LOCK, and then try MouseKeys again. To move the pointer horizontally or vertically, press the arrow keys on your numeric keypad. To move the pointer diagonally, press HOME, END, PAGE UP, or PAGE DOWN on your numeric keypad. Notes To open Accessibility Options, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Accessibility Options. To specify whether NUM LOCK must be on or off for MouseKeys to function, on the Mouse tab, click Settings, and then for Use MouseKeys when NumLock is, click On or Off. To change the pointer speed and acceleration when using MouseKeys, on the Mouse tab, click Settings, and then move the sliders to adjust the pointer speed and acceleration. Don't you have this program installed? Some Toshiba's do. Toshiba application and driver installer I'm not suggesting you up-date drives unless there is a clear issue with the computer like a connection issue, mouse pad issue, display issue etc. Installing wrong drivers or versions can cause blue screen issues. Something you don't want to have. Definitely leave the BIOS alone! I believe that is your computer in the link below, and the associated drivers for it. Ms. Rose, do you have a Micro Center in your area? They have a web site but when you go into their stores, unlike a lot of the Best Buy folks, the people who work there are VERY educated in what they sell and the prices are great. My uses are very similar to yours. I've owned a lot of laptops and have paid a lot of money for extra's I never used. My favorite so far has been smaller sized, inexpensive HP's and Compaqs (400.00 or less) with a key pad on the board. They have all the features needed like micro card slots, usb ports, ample ram and hard drive space but are lighter and easier to move around with. After having an 18 inch mammoth HP and hating it, I'll never go larger than 15 inch again. It hasn't happened yet, but I am glad that if after a couple of years something does go wrong with the unit, it won't cost an arm and a leg to replace. Micro Center also has a great warranty program if that's something you are interested in. One thing that people don't usually think about but is really important is to know where the vent fans are for your system. HP used to build them on the bottom causing the units to get very hot. They've now redesigned them to vent on the side, but I'm not sure if all manufactures have done that yet. Also, I know a lot of people are happy with them, but my husband is an IT computer guy and a Dell employee; he's very familiar with their products and feels they are not what they used to be and are over priced for what you get.
