I'm in the process of expanding my tiny kitchen. Guess what? When finished, it won't be as big as that wonderful dish room.

I love all her flatware storage (Actually, I love all her flatware.) and the way she's hung all the napkin rings.
They must be one fun couple!

flora, so thoughtful of you to provide the link. it didn't work for me, but google quickly did so now i'm getting a renewed geography lesson on great britain. i find it such fun as an older person to get into geography because i bring so much more knowledge, and references , to the table of connecting things!so, rather than waste my time feeling stupid, i just get on w/ the excitement of learning! at any rate,i certainly never would have thought of 'sw' including the area due west of london, but there you are. SO. on our one(march!)trip to eng, we did go to bath and westward (tresco abbey being the furthest west in england that we went). google says that bath is 4 hrs from lands end. are you near bath(what a lovely place) or maybe in gloucestershire?( i haven't been there.) i won't waste time repeating the old adage and everything, but i will tell you that even in march we found tresco to be a real treat. actually, it was the first time i ever saw(consciously, anyway)echium. i'm guessing that it doesn't grow many places in GB(?); maybe up at that fairy community in scotland, with the gulf stream and palm trees and everything? I think of echium as kind of like a cross between blue buddleia and acanthus, on MEGA steroids! Now i see echium when we go to carmel CA every march, and there are few plants i love more! anyway, lord knows you live in the land of great gardens every place you look, but i hope you'll treat yourself someday soon- and go there, to tresco. and have you been to the lost garden of heligan? i bet that has really shaped up since we were there at the very beGINNing of that restoration, whenever that was..... best, mindy p.s. i had no IDEA that it looks like you could walk from ireland to scotland in a short time....! the other night we watched a (dreadful) travel film of scotland, but we at least learned that it was settled by irish people, so now i get it. onward with my map study!.......

Wow! That was facinating! And here I sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed at the excess in my little home! I have nothing, I repeat, nothing, compared to her! LOL She sure has some great storage spaces too, loved her use of every possible cupboard and closet. Had to laugh when I saw she even had dishes in the bathroom cabinets too. ;o) Talk about "enabling", and "collecting" and she's a perfect example. LOL TFS Luvs

The first time I tried it, there was nothing--I got to doors, but nothing happened. Then finally a problem came up on the door, but I had no idea what to do after throwing the snail balls (I didn't know you were supposed to type in the number answer). It's pretty simple once the stuff works--you run into the snails, which then turn into balls you can throw at the door. Then you have to type in the numeral that is the answer to the problem on the door. After that, the door opens up and an ogre comes out. The multiplication problem(s) appear on his front and you have so much time in which to type in the answer. If you answer wrong, he blasts you with his club thing. After you give the correct answer(s) several times, he goes back behind the door and a key appears, which you grab by running into it. After you do this at several doors, you go on to the next level. That's as far as I know :) We've played this game with dd doing the keyboard and me manipulating the mouse. That has worked well so far. She's still trying to get used to pushing the right number key(s), which is hard for her to do quickly.

Beanie, with a flu relapse, I managed to drag my viral-self over to youtube to see the video. It made me forget how icky I'd been feeling [G] I have to say, the car was certainly cool. I love doing cake sculptures, yet I've never been commissioned to do anything life-size. So I can only imagine what a painstaking feat that sculpture must've been for the crew. As a decorator, the thought of baking that many layers of cake would've driven me to Meth. But, the carving and decorating aspect would've given me a heck of a childish thrill, I can tell you. We celebrated Thumper's birthday last Saturday, and I had to bake him a cake according to his specifications. I'm currently working on Sam's birthday cake which is two days away, so I'll be pretty much caked out, by the time this is all over. Thank you RenÃÂ©e for thinking of me! Sol

Bonnie has a 'Dish Closet Heaven' that any woman would Kill For!!
To be able to just waltz in there and see EVERYTHING at a glance and to have it ALL organized to such an amazing degree, is just the ultimate Dish-a-holic's Dream Come True!!

Wow!

That's twice as big as my dish pantry. It's a good thing I don't have that...I would have a few more dishes (LOL!)

How organized can you get? (my flatware is in jars, and it's not labeled). It's beautiful! Thanks, Kathleen, for guiding us to this great pantry.

Stemware, that is my big problem for storing! This is wonderful, I have huge shelves on two walls in the basement, but they are not organized like this & also no place for stemware.

Think I'll show hubby the pictures (or NOT) like he wants another project!!!! A lot of my things are in big plastic bins & I have no idea what are in them & have to dig thru them almost everytime. I have napkin rings in bags like that but they are all in a bin, have to dig thru.

Great ideas, we may all learn from her!!! Thanks Kathleen for sharing that with us!

Kathleen this dish closet is amazing. My wish is that all of you on here could be so lucky to have one like that some day!!! And I would want it filled with dishes for you! I truly enjoyed browsing her site last night but didn't have time to post. I will go back and look at more details later.

We had GD last night and she is watching cartoons and drinking her JAVA (milk with coffee creamer and mocha mix) at the moment so I jumped on here.

OMG! Okay, I was impressed when Eddie Ross showed the stockroom for the television shows with rows and rows of dishes, pitchers, candleholders, etc. --but for an individual to have a wonderful room full of dishes and accessories like this is just breathtaking! And we're not seeing just two or four of each plate--this lady must have some good sized dinner parties! I've got to show this to my DH--maybe he won't complain anymore when I bring home a few plates! LOL Thanks for making sure we didn't miss this Kathleen.

I knew all my friends here would love it. In a million years I could never be that organized! It might start that way, but give me a few weeks and it would get UN arranged!

I'm speechless. Well... maybe not completely!

What a perfect solution to my storage problems. DH needs to get busy building that room.

As y'all know I had a post a while ago asking for storage ideas. A few days later I shared all of your ideas with DH. That night he thought of the answer in his sleep!

Our livingroom is very long. I have my sofa back about 9' away from the wall. Behind it is an antique buffet, an antique washstand, and piles of dishes and accessories I've collected. There is also a doorway to our bedroom back there that we never use. (Because you couldn't get to it if you wanted to for all of the stuff piled up.)

All we have to do is move the buffet and the washstand and build one wall.

Problem solved. DH wants to know where I'm going to put all of that stuff while he is building!

Did y'all notice that those shelves were 2 stacks deep and they were ALL full? And she has stuff on the floor!

WOW! And the stemware!

These people are my soul mates, minus me not being that organinzed or having that many wonderful things or having room for that many wonderful things, we were separated at birth!

I know you've got the 'Will'....and now, DH...has found
the 'Way'.. lol

I don't know if this will work for you or not, but I have seen stemware holders that slide onto a shelf, holding the glasses upside down. Someday I want to buy the under counter holders and attach them to the underside of pantry shelves.

I have a walk in type pantry in a hallway, (in addition to the cabinet pantry in the kitchen). Its maybe 3X4 with shelves almost to the top. It needs some organizing and the shelves need to be re in-forced but I can totally do this!
Right now I have some butler pantry stuff in there, and kitchen appliances I don't use daily.
I won't ever have the stock this lady has, but I can certainly organize what I do have much better.

Thanks for posting this, I would have missed it, only logging in to check out Mondays and Thursdays on her blog.
