You can not beat an HP/PC and yes you do get Free tech support for life,24/7 online like a chat, it's great! I bought 2 new HP/PC's one big desktop, got a great deal at Office Depot, and it's a new quad core, 6MB RAM, and can be taken up to 16 MB RAM, came with a beautiful 21.5" LCD HD monitor, the price was great, also new 17" HP laptop, 4 GB RAM awesome resolution on screen, at Walmart it's the latest from HP also.. first thing I do is get rid of all trial offers installed like Norton,Office etc. then load AVG2011 and malewarebytes, windows firewall is installed of course, and defender comes in W7, which many people do not know about, and it's great..(both pc have huge HD's too)

Yea, it is a subscription service. You can use the one subscription on three computers. I use it here on xp and it seldom requires any attention. It just does its own things silently in the background. Every now and then you will see a bubble saying its up to date. Updates itself automatically and frequently.

Lynn if you are happy with McAfee then keep it, I in fact have McAfee on one of my windows computers because I too get it free with my Verizon fios, when I get tired of it or if something goes wacky with it I know I can always just start using one of the free ones like Avast, would not use the new AVG8. There have in the past been problems with McAfee, they have sent out some updates that caused problems on some computers, but they were pretty quick to fix them. I do not use their firewall I use an older version of zonealarm pro. Site advisor has nothing to do with your McAFee suite it is an add on for your browser, you download it from the site I provided in the other thread and simply select which browser you are using and use the download for that browser, Since you are currently using IE get the one that says for Ie, when you decide to get firefox then go and get the one that says for firefox it will then add it to firefox also. it is super simple to do basically one click. It is free for everyone. as to your husbands laptop that would be totally up to you or him. IF he wants to pay for trend micro it is a good program however I think there are free versions that can handle the job like the Avast free. I would probably do that instead of putting AOL on there if he does not need it, AOL is bad about digging into the innards of the pc and when not needed I don't advise putting it on. Now to your daughters pc are you sure you have the McAfee suite actually installed on that pc? I would try logging in with your name since it is under your subscription often times the main user has to do that to enable subscriptions. IF you can not get it to work then make sure you completely remove it from the pc before you install any other antivirus program that goes for any of the computers always completely remove the prior antivirus, you do not want more than one on a pc. McAfee has a detailed directions page on how to uninstall their products. this is the directions you may want to print and keep available. 1. Uninstall all McAfee programs through "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows "Control Panel". 2. Use the MCPR tool, see this article: How to remove supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe). This will remove all McAfee remnants from your computer. (you must have Windows Vista, XP or 2000 SP4 to use this tool) 3. Launch Windows Explorer and delete all McAfee files in "Program Files" but especially in "C:\Document and Settings\\Application Data" and "C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data". You have to set Windows Explorer to show all hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > View tab). Just delete the McAfee folders even if they are empty in all the "Application Data" folders. the safety part yes it should be safe, my friend uses hers to order online and I think she does some banking too. The printer you need to check the list they have for the ones that are definitely compatible my friend has use 2 different ones with no problems, for mouse she had to try a few usb plug and play versions till she hit one she liked that worked well, using a usb wireless mouse is a good idea since the keyboard is wireless too, now the remote can be used to take on some of the duties of a mouse and the keyboard that comes with it is a specially designed one that has special keys to do certain things, the usb ports are in the back of the unit so I had her get a usb cord to be able to run it to the front then plug in a little usb hub to plug her mouse into that gives more usb ports. I would definitely go to the forums they have some very good ones dedicated to these units. My friend has learned so much about hers from those forums. You do not have to worry about getting any updates the updates are sent right to the units and remember this is not a regular pc so no software can be loaded but you can use websites like google Docs to do word processing and docs and spreadsheets etc and you can then have your printer print them.. You can set up other email on line if you prefer also. My suggestion on the mouse would be a small notebook sized mouse in usb wireless. They are smaller and easier to handle with older hands or arthritic hands, I have arthritis and I much prefer using a small mouse. you can google search for some of the forums but I know my friend said it has links to them on her unit home page.
