I know nothing of the service from AT & T since I do not receive their signal where I live, but Verizon and Sprint are both very active with this service. As far as I know, all carriers require a contract, usually a 2 year contract. There are various devices for connecting, including USB, PC Express, and the older PCMCIA cards.

I plan to go with Verizon service soon as it became available in my area in November and I get a good EV signal on my phone. I'm hoping it will be much better than satellite, which I now have.

These services are not cheap.

Hi. Acquired the AT&T connect card in December and found that it wasn't any faster than dial-up at first. The representative said sometime in January I should see a substantial increase in speed after the upgrades were made from their end. As recently as a few days ago I called and asked when it would get faster and they said "soon." Well for the past two days my download speeds have increased from 4 to 5 kb/sec to between 15 and 20kb per second. It isn't just my imagination either but the internet is MUCH faster now than when I had dial-up. That is with just a "good" connection as opposed to "very good" or "excellent" connections which I sometimes get.

Even though it isn't as fast as DSL or cable yet I've been told that it is just a matter of time before those speeds will be available. Overall I am very happy with the service and only expect it to get better. After 15 years of dial-up this is like a million dollars to a blue collar worker.

I don't believe you would be disappointed in getting the card. Regards.

Thx for the replies. I want to check out Sprint. My neighbor has a phone and says she gets good service at her place (2 mi away from me). I wanted AT&T because I thought there would be a price break since we have our cl phones with them. Since that's not the case, I'll go with whichever phone gives me the best results.

I ordered mine yesterday because I just can't take the slow dialup any longer. I hope it's as reliable as my AT&T wireless phone service. The tech I spoke with said that the signal is broadcast from the same cell towers. It is less expensive at $59 a month than paying for a land line and dialup service.

I wanted to report back on the ATT service, or my experience with it. I got the USB connect Sierra 881U modem to use with my desktop. It is about 10 times faster than my dialup connection was. I live in a remote location, with no access to cable, dsl and satellite won't be reliable because I don't have clear access to the southern sky. The monthly service is $59.99 and after rebate, I got the modem for $49. A definite win-win for me.

There was no email included with my service, but I use my hotmail, yahoo and gmail accounts so I really did not need a new one. You will like the additional speed.
