Fire ants make mounds and not holes. The mounds start out small and become larger as the colony population increases. These mounds look rather innocent until you disturb them, and ALL of the ants boil out of the mound all at once. Again, there is never a discernible hole. I never worry about ants in my yard and garden, other than fire ants. Fire ants can be a problem for humans, pets, bird nests, beneficial insect eggs and larvae, and such.

Hello, All. I just don't think AOL e-mail should be booting up to to the double-screen block in the upper right-hand corner. .I think it should boot to the full screen. I tend to blame it on Win7 but I've blamed everything else 7 since I switched to a new computer back in the Summer. I'd had XP from the beginning. Sure would like to have it back. Mary, for twenty or more years I've had the story about the fellow and his wife moving from Florida to Buffalo so they could enjoy the snow. I still have to read it occasionally. Getting Emails Sent To You...3-step Process There are three things you have to do to get emails sent to you when someone posts to a thread you started: Be sure you have a valid/current email address in your profile Again in your profile, be sure you have the "Allow other users to send you email via forms at our site." box checked (at the bottom of the profile page) Be sure to check the box labeled "Check here if you would like copies of follow-ups to your message emailed to you" when you submit your post. (Below the "Message" box) Hmmm...maybe a 4th step...don't forget to "Save Your Member Profile" when you make changes! (button at bottom of profile page) If you do all 3 (or 4!) things, you should get an email when someone posts to your message. Note: Some members have said they still have problems getting emails. I seem to always get emails, but I have noticed that occasionally there will be a several hour delay and once there was a several day delay...I don't know why. Also, check your Junk Mail, sometimes the emails end up there. Add "gardenweb_user@gardenweb.com" to your "safe senders" list as well. If you still don't get emails, check with your internet service provider and be sure emails from GW are not being filtered out as junk before they get to you.

Ladies & gents, I absolutely love the look of the big, huge, full hanging baskets with wave petunias. Something like the below photo. But, how is it done? I was on another site and they said it can be done by planting petunias on the sides of a lined hanging basket. I've heard mixed opinions on this as far as how effective it is, and have never planted wave petunias before, so if you could offer me any advice or tips I'd really appreciate it. Here's another question: how much do you think one of these baskets would weigh? I have hangers in my soffits for this purpose exactly, and they're rated for 15 lbs. (I'm OK with pushing this limit just a little bit... the hangers look pretty sturdy). If I got a couple of 12" baskets, I think that would be an OK size without overwhelming my hangers, even when it's just been watered, but would love to hear your opinions on all of the above. Last year, I got some $5 hanging baskets of petunias from Lowe's, but they weren't wave petunias, and they kept having to be trimmed because they'd stop blooming and get leggy. They were a bit underwhelming as well, but I suppose you can't beat the price. Have you all had good luck with wave petunias? Thanks again!
