PRXH18-M30 Vent-A-Hood M Series with Baffles
Comments (7)I have a Rangecraft hood with baffles (my first real hood ever) over a CC rangetop. The baffles have never leaked. There is no trap or grease cup to hold gunk (I could never figure out why VAH thinks that's a good design). My baffles hold any grease or oil or whathaveyou until I take them out and throw them in the DW. I used to run them through the DW every week or so but have been forgetting lately due to the fact that I run a full DW twice a day and usually don't have room. Even washing them once a month like I've been doing is fine. The baffles never drip anything on the floor counter when removing them and putting them in the DW. It's so incredibly easy to clean baffles....See MoreVent a Hood vs. Zephyr
Comments (6)When I listened to the Zephyr and Vent a Hood in person I found that the Vent a Hood was much quieter (tested a 36" below cabinet range hood with two fans). I chose Vent a Hood because it was quieter to the Zephyr equivalent (not that it or any range hood is 'quiet'). I have problems with my hearing and the Vent a Hood sound frequency was also less annoying. The sales guy said the newer Vent a Hoods are easier to clean. I have no idea if this is true but it's worth comparing the newer ones in terms of how they clean up to what you have. Good luck....See MoreVentilation for range bumped out 6 inches, Baffles vs Magic Lung
Comments (1)I can't answer most of your questions, but . . . None of the major hood manufacturers recommend having the hood that high over the counter - 30" is recommended and 36" is maximum, usually. I'm 6'1" and we originally thought 36" would be too low, that it would get in the way of cooking. When it was framed in it looked WAY too high, so we lowered to 36". I would suggest you go with the manufacturer's recommendation and not go any higher....See MoreVent a hood magic lung
Comments (16)If the stuck screw is stuck due to rust, buy some "PB Blaster" at your nearest automotive parts store supplying the trade. "Kroil" would be another option, but is not usually available locally. I'm not sure what the configuration is of the "hex wrench" that doesn't work, but the scope of available wrench styles for different purposes is vast, so a configuration providing more leverage should exist. Repeat the following mantra (even if, in the extreme limit, it is dubious): "One cannot have too many tools." And if this is a machine screw or sheet metal screw that rusted, replace it with a stainless steel equivalent. Most significant hardware stores will have shelves of containers of small quantity hardware. If the sheet metal that it was screwed into rusted, put some NeverSeize (or equivalent) on the new screw when installing it. kas...See More2LittleFishies
