CAT5 is simply a designation for a kind of wire typically used for computer networks. I don't know about FIOS but AT&T's Uverse can also use it to transmit a signal for television. COAX is a type of wire used for television transmission exclusively. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have COAX run to every room you're likely to have a television in and CAT5 to every room you are likely to have a television and/or a computer. Wireless networking (for computers) is just that - no wires. It's often called WiFi (pronounced Y-fi). The obvious advantage is that you don't have to run wires anywhere. The disadvantage is that it's often not quite as fast as a wired network. WiFi is less secure than a hard wired network and susceptible to interference.

If you can find them, a stainless staple would be much better. I got the ones linked above and every single one that had to be removed broke easily. I dread what a project it will be if I ever have to reupholster the chairs I did with those galvanized staples. That said, I've not found anything better on Amazon yet. I was thinking of trying to find an upholstery supply place or something before I do my next project.

I have had antenna tv for a long time and get around 27 stations depending on the weather. I have the converter box as well because my tv is an older 10 inch portable. Most of my signals come from towers out in the county. Having a better antenna does make the difference. I had a cheaper antenna that I thought was picking up all the stations but after my sister passed away I was given her new rabbit ears antenna and as soon as I plugged it in I received 10 more stations so I was really thrilled LOL I often scan for new stations to see if the antenna can pick up a few more. I am also fortunate because I live on the US border so can pick up Detroit and some Ohio stations, but only 2 Canadian stations which makes me laugh. CBC and PBS TV Ontario. Many shows that are on cable I can watch on the internet. I have been watching past episodes of Hoarders on A&E on my computer. I am also addicted to watching the British Show Time Team. Love watching PBS on Saturdays - all the cooking shows I need LOL Anne

"Style" has more to do with where it's used. All wire will "stretch" if subjected to enough stress (a boat at sea / airplane tie-downs), those applications require the ability to re-tighten the cable (more expensive styles). Using cable on a run of stairs (as opposed to a porch) should pass code but, check to make sure. Since cable relies on tension, the material to which it is attached comes into play (steel frame/ aluminium frame/ wood). Single strands (top of stairs to bottom) will be less costly than individual strands fastened between the uprights. If your climate rcvs snow/ ice make sure the top rail has a surface which provides a good hand-hold. Cabling is stainless steel - it won't rust.
