Gee, Gladys, I don't know. I tossed Norton about six years ago because it slowed things to a crawl. Being a lurker on this forum, I've noticed a lot of posts saying uninstall Norton.

If I were you, first thing I'd do is disable Norton and see if the symptoms went away.

I don't know if this would be related, but Defender Pro should have been uninstalled in Control Panel add/remove prior to the installation of Norton.

I di uninstall defender Pro. Even tried re-installing Norton. Dud no good. Maybe it's just the site. But its pretty active.(orchidgeeks.com). I don't think the site is down. Its wanting to download the site and save to desktop. and even then I cant get in! Thanks, Gladys

Hate to tell you this but I also invested in Norton. Screwed up my machine so bad I couldn't even uninstall Norton!! Had to take it in to a repair man to get it out of my computer. As I've said, along with many others, never again will I buy Norton. Slowed the computer and screwed up a LOT of other things. So sorry. BT

Gladys, I have XP SP2, IE7, Norton AV 2008, and when I go to your orchidgeek.com website, instead of just opening for me, I get the prompt -

"Security Warning - Do you want to save this file or find an online program to open it"....and I that point I click cancel :)

I haven't seen that before and don't know what it means but maybe it will help someone else to help you.

Maybe it is the site. I got almost the same message when I went to the site you mentioned.

Don't change to Norton. Change to Apple! Then throw Norton and every other anti-virus program away!

PS... Sorry, got carried away. Norton is bad! Poor customer service, slow to update their database of virii, and slows down one's computer. Try Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7 for true protection! I have no financial interest in this as I use an Apple, I just want people out there to learn of a GOOD anti-virus program.
