I would suggest uninstalling AOL . Then you can reinstall from the AOL disk you have, just follow the instructions as a current member. All your setting, favorites, etc. will be there. I have had AOL9.1 for ages and have no problem. Actually I use Firefox, or IE for surfing. I can reach AOL using them, but find it easier to check my mail and use my old favorites from AOL. Since AOL is free it was just easier for me to keep it. Are you sure that the problem is AOL? Uninstalling it and the running your PC without it for a while should tell you if it is an AOL problem.

Please do the steps below that will enable you to read the EXACT blue screen error next time the pc blue screens, post the error here, a blue screen error can be related to many things this will only be the start of finding the exact cause. 1.Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. 2.Click the Advanced tab. 3.Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box. 4.Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times. 5.Restart your computer for the settings to take effect. Now when you go to shut down and a fatal error occurs, you'll at least see it and it won't cause an automatic reboot. then we can sort out what's causing the problem.

I have some of my towers under the desk on small pedestals and some on top of the desk, I have a ceiling fan in the room that usually is on except in the dead of winter and under the desk I have a small fan that runs circulating air around those towers at all times, it can get warm under that desk and the fan does help keep air moving. My husband uses his laptop all day long at work, he puts it in the docking station when he gets there in the morning and it stays there and on and running till he comes home at night unless he has a meeting to take it to, but it gets good air flow being on the desk and in the docking station. I think if a laptop caught fire like that it had a serious over heating problem, if it did not have it's vents blocked. I know a lot of bad batteries in laptops have caused fires. they do make laptop bases that have additional fans built in them to help keep them cool.

I'm hoping I did this right. First I think I should mention: After I clicked install I had a message pop up that said "HJT appears to have been started from a temp folder. Since temp. folders tend to be emptied regularly it's wise to copy HJT.exe to a folder of its own, for instance C:Program Files\HiJackThis This way, any back ups tht will be made of fixed items won't be lost. Please quite HJT & copy it to a separate folder 1st before fixing any items." I didn't know how to do this..so I just clicked ok. I then clicked System Scan & save logfile button.... then received a message that said.. "For some reason your system denied write access to the hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, HJT may NOT be able to fix this. If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. to do this, click start, run & type: notepad C:\Windows\Systems32\drivers\etc\hosts & press enter. find the line(s) hjt reports & delete them. Save the files as 'hosts' (w/ quotes), & reboot. For Vista (which is what I have) Simply, exit HJT, right click on the HJT icon, choose 'run as administrator'. Wasn't sure what that was all about either so I clicked ok and then it scanned. The scan literally only took seconds. Is this normal? I didn't do anything else. I also still have all the notepad and the Trend Micro Hijack screen open. ? Here's what the notepad says...
