Wow, what a difference! I tried IE & Safari on both Windows & Mac, and the difference is amazing (we have an iMac with an Intel processor that runs windows and mac at the same time). I'd never even given thought to the color the browsers can display. I'd always thought more about the monitor than the browserÂas well as the OS, affecting color, and knew the Mac OS paid more attention to color. Very illuminating about the browsers! It's such a weird feeling running Safari on Windows now. I haven't figured out how to get it to sync the bookmarks like you can on Safari and all the Mac stations. --Ron

All the browsers were up-dated the day before. And last week Google chrome failed miserably in some speed test. "Microsoft is also touting IE9Âs "hardware accelerated" HTML5 capabilities. However, in our testing, IE9 was not significantly faster or smoother rendering the demo page on MicrosoftÂs site than were Firefox, Safari or Opera. if you do not use safari which is an apple browser then get rid of it, likely it was on some other update you did from apple that it had safari checked and you missed un checking it in the install process they pull that often with itunes and safari. generally if secunia tells you there are newer updates they are good to do for security reasons. If you have the programs on your pc then you should do the updates because vulnerabilities can be found in any kind of program. There is a big one right now in Adobe which does not yet have a patch out to fix it but they will hopefully have one soon, there are updates now for flash so those should be done for all browsers. I just did an update for quicktime today in fact. Everyone really needs to be extremely cautious of PDF files right now till this adobe patch comes out, I would not open any in the browser but instead download to disc and scan them well prior to opening them.

firefox is on a very fast track in new versions blazing fast in fact. Just read a good article on it. So we can all get used to the new versions coming in very quickly. Firefox 7 is already in alpha and is expected to go to public beta on August 16 around which time Firefox 8 will go to alpha and Version 6 will be officially released. doing these quick updates really mess with the add-ons authors as they try to keep up with the speed of the changes in the new versions. So that leaves us with some of our fave add-ons not working while their authors scramble to keep up. I tend to stick with the version that all my add-ons work with till I am sure which ever new version also has working add ons then I move on.
