Blocked images in Firefox

Both hubby and I are using Firefox and in my Tools/options/content, I have "load images automatically'. And when I click on the "exceptions" button, I have a long list of sites that have images blocked. I didn't enter any of the sites, but I can see why they would be listed.

On hubby's computer, there are no sites listed in his "exceptions". I am running XP and he is running Vista.

We both have the same antispyware software, with the exception of Spybot-Search&Destroy, which I have and he doesn't. Am I correct in assuming that Spybot had automatically listed the sites in my Firefox?

I have FF also and some images are blocked, but they are usually ads. I think because I use FF's Ad block. There is a notice at the top I can click on and it will load the images.

Thanks for the reply Stargazzer. These are listed under tools/options/content/exceptions and the only addon that I have is FlashBlocker. I started to count the excepted site and there must be over 500 sites listed. As one might guess, there are a lot of sex sites blocked listed.

Me too, me too! But love it as I do, I'd have still been hating GW without the help of kind members , especially 'camp, in Decor, who gave me the final secret word....NOSCRIPT! I had this awful Chaps ad video that acted as a gatekeepr and locked it up on every clik. It's everything SOCAL said, and now I have zero ads anywhere here.wheeeeee. Now I'm gonna go look at "Stumble upon"...sounds neat..thanks :>)

On the GW tomato forum, I'm bombarded with an annoying something that slides across the bottom of the browser and when I click on a message, I get redirected to a Honey Bunches of Oats thing and I have to click on skip to get out of. I get these with the block pop ups on. Bob, Thanks for the help. I got it loaded without a hitch. Now how do I add the filter set? I was told there was a no script add on as well but can't find it. Thank you for your help. Bill

It went away entirely for me, and closed up the space. I have Ad-block Plus. I don't know about right-clicking; on a Mac I used Control-click and got a menu that included "block image." When I clicked on that I got a dialog box with the specifics of the image and asking me to confirm that I wanted to block it. All gone.

So have you tried using Internet Explorer to download? If that fails and you are using the Microsoft firewall click Start, click Control panel, click Security settings, click Firewall in the lower part of that window then look through the tabs to see if you are being denied access there. You mention using an anti virus and firewall, aren't you using any other kind of protection to keep bigger nasties at bay? Something like either Superantispyware or Malwarebytes should be installed, updated and ran with a full scan initially to be safe. Then update and run every 14 to 21 days at your own discretion.

it could be flashblock, ad block, or spywareblaster or any type of tool or program you have on your pc that blacklists sites automatically and you are seeing the list of them. It would depend on which you have and which he does not have.

If you don't both have spywareblaster I would definitely add that to both, you just have to open it once a week hit the update button then the enable all protection button so it's shield is green and that is it, it just sits there and helps keep the bad guys away.

Thanks Raven...we both have SpywareBlaster, SUPERantispyware.

He has Windows Defender, which I don't and I have Spybot Search&Destroy, which he doesn't. These sites were listed before I installed the flashblock add-on. I had AdAware at one time. Sure wish I could figure out what installed them, so I could get them listed on his machine.

I don't have any "exceptions" listed.
The only add-on I'm using is NoScript.

I have a long list of exceptions also. I thought they came from adblock plus or the adblock plus filterset but if you haven't used those they have to come from somewhere else.

I just checked my windows box firefox and under the category you are talking about I have no list at all there and I have a LOT of firefox add-ons, however I do not have flashblock, I do have ad block plus with a filter set.
