Here's my latest attempt. Uninstalled the software everywhere I could find it. Did an Error Check and then a defrag. Rebooted. Downloaded the software again. Disconnected the printer and reconnected it accoriding to instructions on the Quck Start poster that came with my printer. After installation, I did a manual test page, which printed out fine. I made sure the printer is listed as the default. But when I tried yet again to print from a computer file, yet again nothing happened. If I had a cd, I don't now. That's strange because I have the cd for my scanner,which is older than my printer. I also have cd's that came with my first computer, years ago. But no printer cd. There is still an explanation in front of the Printer Port in the DM, and the printer is still not listed there. The link you gave, grandms, didn't help, unfortunately. I will go to the hp site to locate the live person when I have the time to devote to it. I've spent so much time on this, my RL is slipping, and I have to catch up. I think the back to front or front to back is not the problem. I wouldn't care what prints first since I don't do much text printing.........The problem is HOW to not print the sample label in PayPal. I had to buy 2 shipping labels today. It did it again, twice, including that 3rd print page with the upper instructions on how to print the label. I've looked through the options, but it is not going to tell me how not to do Sample label printing. I removed the printer and added it again and it works great only it didn't solve the label problem. I have also googled for a fix, but no one seems to have run into this problem. I have had this printer for a long time. I bought it with my XP and now I have W 7. AM I READY FOR A NEW ONE?

Are the print jobs being sent to the printer queue? Are you seeing the little printer icon down is the system tray? When you open it up, is there an error on the first job? Maybe stopping and starting the print spooler would help. Open a command prompt (click start-->Run, type in cmd and click OK) type the following two commands and press the enter key after each: net stop spooler net start spooler Have you deleted or uninstalled the printer a couple of times? Trying to figure out why it's showing LPT3 and not LPT1 after a clean reload of Windows. The DOT4_001 port is related to the USB connection and is perfectly normal for an HP all in one (showing both is normal). Another thing I can think of, you might try uninstalling (deleting) the printer from the Printer and Faxes folder, then unplug the usb cable from the computer side. Restart Windows, then plug the USB back in. BTW, the others that are attempting to help you don't necessarily know what you mean when you write "Have re-installed os, anitvirus, drivers, downloads from both manufactures for all" or "Have checked settings and options, many times, will do it again". Maybe you are repeating the same steps over and over missing just one critical piece. Like, for instance, HP printers install better if you wait for the installation to complete before plugging in the USB cable. The installation will tell you to plug it in, but there is a check mark there allowing you to plug it in later. Sometimes scanning issues are power related too, maybe try a different electrical outlet. Hope you get it sorted, Pam
