Is the new capital range the reason for the bluestar video removal from eurostoves website?

MLC - I was wondering if Eurostoves is still going to able/willing to provide their legendary support for BS products.

Can't imagine BS is too pleased right about now. After all, who buys a BS but for the sheer performance, and now that one of the biggest promoters has apparently jumped ship...

Yikes! Now that I finally have my Bluestar range (not yet installed), I was going to watch some of the how-to videos again (cleaning, replacing the ignitor, etc.). I understand taking down some of the "how Bluestar is better than xxx videos" since Eurostoves is now pushing Capital but not the how-to videos. Why not leave those posted for folks like us.

Actually I was hoping that thread would die after 150 posts :-) It seems like a great new product but I was getting a little tired of all the people whining about the shape of the handle or the color of the knobs!

I have decided to purchase a red, manual clean 30'' Culinarian. The handle has kind of grown on me. I am crossing my fingers that everything works out.

It would indeed be very unfortunate if Blue Star were to pull the product from Eurostoves. Was counting on buying there if I got a Blue Star and I'm still feeling it may well be Blue Star (love those star burners). But at one point I was so concerned about the reliability I thought, no, never. Then I was smitten and thought, well I'll get the rangetop, how much trouble can that be? And then we redid our layout and I saw the range live, and I thought, well, I'll get the range because it getting it from Trevor, I know I will be taken care of. But now?????
Blue Star, are you trying to push us to get a Capital? What's up???

Do you know if there will be just one red available or like Bluestar you can chose from several in the Ral 190 chart?

I think there are 3 or 4 reds. I don't have my regular PC right now so I an unable cant to check, as soon as i am up and running I will update the website

Plus 4 others that I don't recall, looking back in our record the above colors represent 90% of all colors we have ever sold.

It is not possible at this time to offer all 190 as Bluestar does. The reason is that Bluestar's parent company also owns a paint making company, and they also have a spray booth in the factory.

Well, one of the colors should certainly be "British Racing Green" (RAL 6005). ;^P

The Flame Red one I am going for will push my kitchen a long way from my '80's oak kitchen. I just can't wait.

Is the Flame Red similar to Bertazzoni's "Ferrari Red?"

My designer friend calls it Chinese Red. It has a little bit of orange in it but it is definitely not red orange if that makes sense.

Here is a picture of my color scheme. The colors aren't perfect in the photo but it may give you some idea. The plate is pretty close to Flame Red. The cabinet color sometimes looks like cream and sometimes looks more yellow. I am using the Buttermilk Milk Paint color I found on a sample cabinet. The floor is Brazilian Teak. The granite may stay or not. I haven't gotten that far yet. Sorry if this is TMI.

I understand the Capital Culinarian will be rolled out nationwide in due course. It takes time to make the ranges for the distribution chain, then present the range to brick and mortar retailers. Once the retailer says yes they will display the range it will be shipped from the distributor, followed by staff training on the range.
So the answer is Yes.......

No, have not decided yet. Am assuming 10-12 weeks order to delivery which gives me just a little more time. Waiting to see the center grid on the Capital 30 and perhaps there will also be more updates on BlueStar V1. Wolf AG a distant third -- would not seriously consider unless there is a good promo.

When do you get your Culinarian?

I haven't ordered yet but I should be ready to in the next week or so. I was triple checking the color with my designer friend.

OK another capital question. When we installed our Bluestar, the upper cabinets had to be at least 3 inches (horizontally) away from the edges of the range, in addition to the standard vertical distance. In other words, for the 36" range, we had to have a 42" gap between the upper cabinets -- so we put in a 42" hood above.

Does the Capital have a similar requirement, or can the upper cabinets be closer? In our current house, the upper cabinets are offset only 1.5 inches -- so we have 33" between the left and right upper cabinets above the 30" range. Can a 30" capital be installed without moving (or removing) these upper cabinets? The middle cabinet/hood area will definitely be removed to install a proper outside-venting hood.

With the Culinarian you can use a 30" hood with a 30" range, provided your upper cabinets are 18" from the counter top or more.

Trevor are you there? Can you tell us more about the three burner super wok configuration on the 30 inch range that Amcook described: pricing, availability, what the grate looks like, what the other two burners are?

Sayde..... I have seen one in the factory but it was a 24' not 30" 2 burners to the left and one large wok burner to the right.

Availability I have no idea right now, I am still pushing to get a picture of the center grates for you on the 30"

Trevor might be right about it being 24". I didn't measure but it looked like a 30" to me. I'm surprised they could fit that burner with two burners on a 24". Isn't the standalone PowerWok burner 24" by itself?

I would imagine that option to take a little longer to become available since from what I saw, they hadn't finished the burner assembly design yet. After that, they still need it to pass certification I assume. Trevor do you know if that combination has already passed certification? Come to think of it, Mr. Kalsi said that option would be available for my range so maybe it's already passed.

I am doubting myself now....lol.

Darn! I knew I should have taken a picture of it. Not sure they would have let me since it was only half assembled but to me it was a thing of beauty. They just need to add about 50k BTU more to the burner, some drainage, and a high back with a faucet and I'd have to consider leaving my wife for it. :)

All kidding aside, it's really nice to see that they are really jumping in to the open burner market so strongly and there's really no question in my mind that they are there for the long haul. I should probably take back what I said earlier about not recognizing wok cooking as important since they have the most impressive dedicated wok burner of anyone around (and have had it for quite some time). I think it's just a case of them spending most of their time perfecting the burners that the wok grate became the second priority, understandably. It would be cool to have a mini-wok burner option though. Basically, take one 23k burner, open up the stainless top to about 9-10" in diameter and make a permanent support with a cylinder over the burner opening. A 30k btu wok burner is just not worth giving up 4 standard burners in my opinion.

My perfect range would be a 48" Culinarian with a different top arrangement than I have seen on their other ranges. What I want is 4 burners + wok burner + grill. They have a 36" Precision configuration that has, L to R, 2 burners, wok burner, 2 burners. How awesome would it be to have a 48" Culinarian with that arrangement plus a grill (or griddle for those who want that instead)! The 48" Precision configuration on their website which includes a wok shows 4 burners + wok burner - which isn't ideal for me. I would love this, Left to Right, 2 burners, wok burner, 2 burners, grill, or 2 burners, wok burner, grill, 2 burners.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I will be purchasing a range for new construction in about a year and a half. It will probably take me that long to figure everything out!

Is there any difference in BTU rating for the LP version? With the Bluestar, the 22K btu burners were rated for the same btu capacity on LP as on natural gas (different version of the range for each), but I know with some ranges, the LP version has a lower BTU rating. How is the Capital in this respect?

Well, after months or reading about and comparing gas ranges, I finally decided on a Capital Culinarian. I spent a lot of time learning about different brands and understanding that open burners really are the right answer for good cooking. Initially I had decided on a Blue Star, but by fluke ran across the many informational videos from Eurostove on the Culinarian. Suddenly it was my front runner.

Finally, we went and visited Trevor and coworkers at Eurostove. We spent the morning cooking the best stir fry and best steak I have ever made. These stoves really do make you a better cook, no question. The deal was sealed and I bought a Culinarian that day. Trevor had it shipped to me and I just now brought it into the house -a thing of beauty. The fit and finish are much better than Wolf or Bluestar.

My only problem is the kitchen renovation won't be complete for a few more months, so I can't play with the stove. For now it has to sit in my dining room waiting while I continue to use my 30 year old electric stove!

Wow I love this site. Between having Trevor on the site and now Surjit Kalsi himself, I am impressed. I have a 48" Culinarian sitting in my dining room waiting for me to finish the kitchen work, so I can slide it in. I simply can't wait to get it out of the box and installed!! It has been pre-converted to LP gas.

One element of preparation I need to do is evaluate my LP gas piping requirements. I need to reroute the piping regardless, since the gas line came up from the floor and the Culinarian requires that I come in horizontally from the wall (the Culinarian goes flush to the wall on the bottom). My question is this. How do I calculate the BTUH load requirements of the range? Do you add all the burners and both stoves running wide open, as worst-case? That seems it might be overkill, so i was wondering if there's any rule of thumb for calculating BTUH load requirements. I don't want to undersize it and have reduced flame efficiency. Right now I have a 3/4" supply line.

cjhusky....You are correct add up all the possible btu's you could use at anyone time and let you contractor know, in the end you will be using a 1/2" or 5/8" flexible hose from your wall outlet to the back of the range.

You need to make sure you have 10" of water column (pressure) at the back of the range.

Does anyone know how 2 or 3 commercial size (18x26") baking sheets full of cookies turn out on the CC? Seems heat and air flow up and around could get trapped to much.
I'm about to make a decision to buy from Trevor. But I'm still wondering if Capital is the better choice other than a few advantages I have seen over the BS. The company is new and in such a flooded pro-range market within such a tough economy, maintenance in the future is a concern. Any Thoughts?
