Hi folks, Just wanted to stop by and assure you that we are working on these issues. Last week, we launched a new registration tool and there are still some bugs that are being ironed out. I know that it's frustrating and upsetting when things don't work as they should -- I really do feel your pain. Unfortunately, some of these bugs are difficult to recreate because they vary from member to member. What would be enormously helpful would be for you to contact us directly and detail what your issues are. Including information such as a step-by-step overview of your login process, where you are seeing issues, the error messages you are getting and anything else that might have differed from any previous login experiences. Many of you have probably already done this, but please make sure you check your browser settings and make sure that you have cookies enabled. If you would send this information to our contact link below, that would be extremely helpful. If you have specific questions or need something else, you are welcome to email us at the link below or contact me directly at any time -- my email is listed on my profile page. Thank you for your continued patience and support. Best regards, Tamara Amey GardenWeb Community Manager Here is a link that might be useful: Email Us

My REAL email is the one you see here, and the same as my user name, except with @aol.com added to it, and I don't get as many spams on it as you're saying you do, Alicia... maybe if you count the ones AOL automatically sends to my SPAM folder, but they're pretty good, over time, about filtering out SPAM. There was a TIME, however, before AOL DID get good at that, when I'd get 15, 20, 30 SPAMs a day... Of course nowadays I get lots of ad emails each week, but that's because I've bought things online from Circuit City... and Best Buy... and shopped online with Wal-Mart although I've never made an online purchase with them, and I tell them ALL it's OK to send me their email specials because it's A LOT EASIER to delete them when I'm NOT in the market for something than it is to catch the specials some other way when I AM (and I got some pretty good savings over the holidays that way, too!). Of course someone ALSO stole American Express number and charged more than $10,000 on it -- all in SPAIN -- back in September... But I don't think they got it online... I think they looked over my shoulder when I was standing in a line somewhere waiting to use it, so now I keep it covered if it's in my hand, unless I'm swiping it... At any rate, THEY caught the biggest charges as "not looking right" and notified US, and then I caught the rest online, and we weren't responsible for ANY of them... which is really nice (except that some fancy 4-star hotel in Spain and a Spanish airline got stuck with back-charges, but then I guess they should be more careful accepting charges). Now I need to go ahead and post this so I can check out some of those neat, tempting links you posted, Ms. X, which, as usual, I neglected to check BEFORE I started "SPOUTING" (or is that "sprouting?") :-) I figure the truth of the matter is that if you're a target for some reason, or MAKE yourself a target for some reason, the only way you can be safe from internet attacks is to not be connected to the internet, but with so many of us online, most of us aren't real "targets," contrasted with big corporations and the very wealthy, etc. I guess in some ways it pays to be "the little guy," huh? Also, their formatting is having the opposite effect as well ... pictures that were formatted as smaller by using height= and width= are now showing up in their huge original size. For example, let's say I have posted 3 pictures side by side. The original size for the first one in pixels is 200x200, the second is 300x300, and the third is 800x800. Using formatting, I could have all 3 pictures show up as 200x200. Their new formatting is overriding the pictures and reverting them to their original sizes, so the 3rd picture is showing up as huge in comparison. Now, let's assume that 800x800 is the largest picture they will allow. If someone posts a picture that is larger than that, then it is automatically being resized down to their max of 800x800. As writersblock pointed out, that is making some of the pics too small to be legible. And they still have not fixed the font style. They still have it in this hard to read font. Can we please revert back to "do no harm" ? Tamara, where are you ?!?!?!?!

I don't claim to be an expert but I used to do e-service Technical Support for about 6 years and most people did not believe me when I told them what the problem was. The simplist way I can explain it is that whenever you go to a site that requires you to sign in you need a certificate from the root signing authority installed in your certificate repository. These root certificates are typically pre-installed at the factory in browsers. When you go to a website your browser attempts to verify their certificate against what you have in your browser and if it does not find it you get an invalid certificate warning. It is a security feature embedded in the browser. Most of the time it is a matter of your browser root certificates being outdated but sometimes viruses have removed some of your certificates. The error message does make it seem that the website is the problem but if it was the website all of us would be getting the same error message. If you are still in doubt do some research on root certificates on the Internet but my explanation is probably easier to understand than the technical explanations you are likely to find. You also must keep your Java updated. I included a link to verify your java version as well. I am not sure which browsers are giving you trouble but yes some viruses do remove your certificates from your root depository commonly as an attempt to trick you when luring you to phishing sites. Remember that the free site advisor can be your best friend along with an up-to-date browser. That really helps in safe surfing. Thats my 2 cents based on my best knowledge. I hope it helps someone! Or maybe I misunderstood the question??? Ms Jay Here is a link that might be useful: verify your Java
