Hey Mike. Root pruning was a little nerve racking for me but I have done it with tropical fruits. I root pruned a mango tree, and yes, I was nervous but it worked just fine. I have not tried this on any of my citrus trees yet but my 'OroBlanco' grapefruit will probably be the first I tree I try it on. When I did it to my mango, I used a sharp knife and cut off 1/3 of the entire root ball. The only other thing I did was moved the tree to shade for a few weeks to recover, and the tree was fine. I would think it would be the same for citrus also. When I do this to my 'Oro Blanco', I will let you know how the tree does. Andrew

Aw you are all so sweet. It made me glow with happy blushes to have people to sincerely celebrate with. You put it so well, Debbie - any bloom outside of the tropics is a happy little occasion. I'm glad others have had the same problem with keeping bella moist. I think I might have to move the Alsobia next to it and water the two of them every other day. I'm so tired of that Alsobia looking so raggedy whenever it gets dried out. It develops all these vines that are dry for a few segments and then green later on toward the ends. Argh. I can't imagine trying to keep this one in Brazil - it does seem to me that it is much easier to keep happy in the winter than in the summer. Goodness... 40C... I know. I just didn't want anyone to get the impression that WM didn't contribute to mandated payroll taxes. Now, the senior employees who are already on SS & Medicare are usually parttime employees who do not qualify for the WM medical plan because of that. But, in all honesty, I don't know how many of them really want to work full time anyway as the usual jobs available are standing on your feet all day and much better suited to PT or younger employees. (Don't get all het up folks. I'm not saying all seniors lack the stamina, just that most probably would not want to do that.) Most employers medical policies stipulate that only full time employees qualify for coverage. Now, having said that. Younger employees who are restricted to PT and not allowed coverage on the company plan would have to provide their own insurance or use the public health facilities which are covered by medicaid. Most of those facilities require a payment of some amount based on ability to pay but I'm sure if you're homeless and have no income you would not be denied services. At least I would hope that this is true.
