Do You Ever Have Decorating Dreams???

The other night, for the second time in a week, I woke up multiple times throughout the night with vivid dreams of decorating for Halloween . . . seriously!

Of course, I'm not one for any gruesome decs (or clowns . . . I have a serious dislike of ANYTHING clown, too). All the decs in my dreams were nice, cute,friendly ones and I was happy and enjoying the planning in my dreams . . . but how weird is that?!?

Do you ever have dreams like that?????

I can't say I ever have dreams about just decorating for the holidays, but I do dream of our former house pretty often and it's been 13 years since we moved. Pretty wierd.

Gosh Lynn, that happens to me a LOT. I think mine may be more "daydreams" at night. I have such trouble going to sleep, that I often lay there thinking about stuff. So its natural for my mind to latch on holiday decorating this time of year. Then I doze off with it in head. Makes for nice dreams I think.

Funny, I feel the same as you about clowns!!

I know the reason Mom has never been into it was because the extra money they had while we were growing up went to us kids . Im sure if she had unlimited funds she wouldve done more of that stuff. Have you ever pressed flowers ? What did you do with them ?

I've pressed many little flower blossoms over the years. I just use a thick telephone directory or similar book. Look for blooms that are more 2-dimensional rather than 3-dimensional... a pansy rather than a chrysanthemum, for example. Obviously a rose won't press flat! And avoid ones with thick centers like some daisies. If you want the daisy petals, pull them off individually to dry them, then reassemble for your project. You can use a piece of paper for the center. Do the same with other thick or complicated blooms - disassemble them and press the individual parts. Some dried flowers retain their colors well, others fade over time. And some dry to a different color... for example, some white blooms dry to a funky tan or yellow. You'll discover which suit your needs by trial and error. Be sure to press weeds and grasses, too. And four-leaf clovers! They add shape interest and color contrast to your compositions. Just go ahead and try drying some... it doesn't take much time or space. If you use a big book like a telephone directory, just start in the back, then as you discover more flowers to press, you can put them in the book closer to the top as you go. Just leave a few pages between each pressing so the moisture doesn't move to another batch. Pretty soon you'll have lots of pressed material to work with!

Juellie, don't let us deter you. Millions of people are raised eating these foods and love them. It's really healthful and I wish I thought that I could 'learn to love it', but I don't think so. Alisand, I'd have to chow down on plentiful amounts of other foods that are loaded with folate. I'd love to hear more about what you find to increase folate in your diet. Is there a natural supplement of folate (not folic acid?

Natesgram, I've worked in a NICU for 15 years and I can't tell you how much we appreciate those fleece blankets for our babies. We also have local volunteers who make isolette covers to keep the environment dark for our babies because it is developmentally appropriate (they shouldn't be born yet). Have you ever seen one? And when my late grandmother was getting chemo for pancreatic cancer, she was really appreciative of the person who made her a cozy fleece for when she got her weekly chemo infusions. I just want to send a big thank you to you for your work, because I know how much such those small things mean from the other side of the fence. Yes, I volunteer. I have volunteered in the medical tent for the NYC marathon for several years. This was before children. After 911 I volunteered making sandwiches for the rescue workers at ground zero. Before I started my career as a PA I volunteered at my local hospital transporting specimens to the lab and escorting patients out of the hospital. Currently I volunteer as a girl scout leader for my 9 year old's girl scout troop. I was never a girl scout as a child, so I am learning as I go. Even though I rolled my eyes when I was asked, I truly enjoy the girls and having a positive influence on them. We are currently involved in a project in building butterfly gardens in our community to restore monarch butterfly habitats. It is so much fun seeing these girls get involved. My mom is getting ready for retirement, she has been volunteering at our local animal shelter. I think she has always been involved in some sort of volunteer project for as long as I can remember. I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. :)

I've always thought clowns were creepy too--but have decided it's because there are unknown men inside those outfits! Nowadays that's creepy--especially for kids parties!

No specific dreams about decorating, but lots of dreams about projects I want to work on. Probably from late night browsing of all those wonderful blogs and thinking "I could make that!" LOL

Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who dreams about holiday decorating (LOL!)!
And, it's interesting how many people, especially women, dislike or flat out hate clowns. My sis, who's just 17 months younger than me ( I have 4 sisters altogether) loves them. We think that it's strange to feel so vastly different about them when we really had all the same experiences as kids. She inherited this big, expensive Murano glass clown from our grandparents (shudder!). Whenever I stay at her house back in Michigan, that thing goes into a far distant cabinet and out of my sight . . . I don't even want it in the same room as me!

but if I see something that's inspiring... my mind can't rest..DH usually says he hears the 'Wood Burning'!
Karen, I'm up most nights too...I think we once said we could keep ea other company if we lived closer.

As far as clowns..don't like them either... I put up a poster of one in the Classroom - very colorful, and a mother asked me to take it down, because her daughter said it scared her...

Lynn, I've never dreamed about decorating. I very seldom dream. After saying my prayers each night, I tend to think about what needs done at the office the next day. Or what I forgot to do!

I would of never guessed that so many dislike clowns. I've always enjoyed good jugglers at the circus. The rodeo clowns have always impressed me with their courage.

I made 30-50 clowns years ago that you could pose to sit, lay down, etc. They sold like crazy for $30. They were pretty ones with cute faces, hats and different colored hair. I have some I've painted and they are so cute that I just never gave them a negative thought. Geez, I learned something new here.LOL

Rodeo Clowns are totally different to me. I love them, but then I love to watch Bull Riding and appreciate the 'job' those clowns actually do to keep the cowboys safe.

I didn't like clowns when I was little and went to the circus, just always thought they were kinda creepy and faces remind me of Jack O' Lanterns. Or vice versa. LOL.
Then all the scary movies with clowns were popular!

I'm one of those people who dream in color, its like I'm watching movie. Weird.

Yep Jane, we could definitely keep each other company at night. Wish we were neighbors.
